Since the vast majority of all human armies have been illiterate, imma go out on a limb and say IQ is a minor if not completely irrelevant factor in fielding an effective army. History is replete with dumbass, successful generals.

IQ and education are two completely different things.

Minimum IQ for the US Army is 85. Anything below that they consider useless for military service in a modern army.

They are, but the capacity to learn is squandered if no learning occurs, rendering the point moot. Most armies were illiterate. Most armies were malnourished (which affects IQ). Most soldiers were neglected children (affecting IQ), so on and so forth.

I’m at a loss to think of any single successful army reknown for being high IQ. Or any battle historians declared the victor succeeded by having a higher IQ army.

The gap is the British Empire. The British Empire kept the brown man down.
