I'm pointing out your deflection and how it conflicts with your standard position.

You have an income and regularly discuss the issue of others not having one.

Cali has a job and talks about the issue of others not having one.

Your response,

Why are you talking about a UBI if you have a job?

Why are you talking about welfare if you have an income?

Note the bold part that was deleted from the quote DB selected when he posted this:

His post was lazy and no attempt at honest debate. It was a waste of all our time.

USDs don't measure equality, or the lack thereof, in any way that leads to anything other than confusion, tyranny, anarchy, and destrcution.

How many USDs per month would it take to make the drunken bum pissing his pants "equal" to DB? Or catsass to you? Or anybody to anybody else?

What the fuck?

This has nothing to do with equality. It's a solution to the post-scarcity world in which most labor is automated, and most people won't have available to them a job.

If anything, there will be rampant inequality as those who can innovate and invent will amass great wealth compared to the multitudes who cannot. But the multitudes who cannot won't suffer either.
But the inequality!

OK, maybe I'm rooting back to the OP a bit much. I'm just not a fan of UBI, so I'll own my bias.

The term "income inequality" is a canard, though. A tool of the most evil among us to enslave the gullible majority.

Okee, dude, I'm creating cool quotes for later harvest, and clarifying my thoughts on a "Jobs For Everyone" podcast I'm writing right now.

p.s. A little preview: "Jobs for Everyone" should be a State goal so that people can get a UBI and still keep a Work Ethic.

I think income inequality is a ridiculous issue. The more advanced a society, the more income inequality will exist. People who want income equality should move to the Amazon rain forest and shack up with the Invisible People or something.

I am talking about the very real problem in our near future whereby an increasing number of people will be without jobs because we are slowly automating our entire economy. You have to address that. If you hate the idea of a UBI, then present an alternative that doesn't amount to "fuck 'em".

There's a surplus of people - that's the problem....population must come down till we colonize space....10 Billion is too many....forced sterilization in exchange for UBI? I don't know.....but something has to be done.

Okay, so far the ideas are:

(1) UBI.

(2) Hitler extermination programs.

Any other ideas?

Just cuz you don't like the answers - doesn't mean theres a better solution....with a UBI and no sterilization - population would explode...

I don't know the alternative.... and I don't think anyone does. It's like asking the government in 1900 to come up with a plan for what we do after automobiles, airplanes, and rockets are ubiquitous, and nuclear weapons exist around the globe.

Human cooperation will find the way. Central planning will lead to pestilence, pain, and disease.

Anyway, back to IRL honest, serious, questions:

What programs would the UBI replace? ALL of them? if so, I might take another look. But if it is not 100% ALL of them, which ones get immunity?

If it is a 100% replacement, how much will it cost, and who will pay for it?

Who gets the UBI? Does a legal immigrant get it the first day off the boat? What about an illegal immigrant's anchor baby?

Just wondering.

I never said there couldn't be a better solution. UBI is the only reasonable one I know of. Exterminating 90% of the human population doesn't rank anywhere on my list of reasonable solutions.
