Read it. Bask in the red pilling.
The more choices women were given over their destinies, and the more equality with men they were given, the unhappier they became.
Of course, you will retort OMFG you want to enslave women!!!! Nope. I want for them to have control over their destinies just as men. I just don't live in a fantasy world where women make good decisions.

Fact.
https://www.nber.org/papers/w14969By many objective measures the lives of women in the United States have improved over the past 35 years, yet we show that measures of subjective well-being indicate that women's happiness has declined both absolutely and relative to men. The paradox of women's declining relative well-being is found across various datasets, measures of subjective well-being, and is pervasive across demographic groups and industrialized countries. Relative declines in female happiness have eroded a gender gap in happiness in which women in the 1970s typically reported higher subjective well-being than did men. These declines have continued and a new gender gap is emerging -- one with higher subjective well-being for men.
I would agree women are less happy.
I would agree that men are less happy.
I would contend that women would be less happy in the present world... even without women's lib.

Given these shifts of rights and bargaining power from men to women over the
past 35 years, holding all else equal, we might expect to see a concurrent shift in
happiness toward women and away from men. Yet, in this paper, we document that
measures of women’s subjective well-being have fallen both absolutely and relatively
to that of men. While the expansion in women’s opportunities has been extensively
studied, the concurrent decline in subjective well-being has largely gone unnoted.
One exception to this is David G. Blanchflower and Andrew J. Oswald (2004), who
study trends in happiness in the United States and Britain noting that, while women
report being happier than men over the period that they examine, the trend in white
women’s happiness in the United States is negative over the period. We will show, in
this paper, that women’s happiness has fallen both absolutely and relative to men’s
in a pervasive way among groups, such that women no longer report being happier
than men, and, in many instances, now report happiness that is below that of men.
Moreover, we show that this shift has occurred through much of the industrialized
world.

You did not read it.
The happiness of women began above that of men. Their happiness declined in proportion to their rights and freedoms expansions since the 1970s. It declined in both relative and absolute terms, everywhere in the western world. Women are now significantly less happy than men. They are unhappy both in absolute terms (significant reduction in happiness from where they were in the 1970s) and in relative terms (they went from being relatively happier than men to being relatively unhappier than men).
The notion that women as a group make good choices is absurd given the data. The more choices we give them, the unhappier they get. This is not even counting all the destroyed families, the children growing up in single mother households on welfare and abused. By both personal and social metrics, women make shit choices.

FTR I’m happier now than I was in the 1970s.Speaker to Animals wrote: The happiness of women began above that of men. Their happiness declined in proportion to their rights and freedoms expansions since the 1970s.

Well, good for you. Let's not confuse your anecdote with statistical facts about women in general..

My 30's better than my 20's, 40's better than 30's, 50's are officially better than 40's.MilSpecs wrote:

I don't think it's gender based, at all. In general, people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.

You are just posturing because you cannot rationally respond to the demonstrated fact that women in general make poor life choices.
If women made good choices, you'd see their happiness increase as more freedom of choice was afforded them. If they made shit choices, you'd see their happiness decline as more freedom of choice was afforded them. It is shown, without a doubt, women's happiness has been in decline and is directly and causally linked to their increase in freedom of choice.
Blaming men for giving you the equality that made women unhappy does not win this debate or really solve the problem.
