It is possible that leftists know they are not responsible enough to own firearms. And because of this, they figure everyone must be equally irresponsible with firearms so it would be better if no one can own them.

I think the left is more afraid of their minorities with guns, but it's easier to just want to ban everybody from owning guns than admitting there exists huge differences in racial behavior that has very real impact on our lives.

Gun control is a racial issue, and they latch on to the white male school shooter because it allows them to avoid the VAST majority of non-suicide shootings which are caused by blacks and hispanics, for the most part.

If you look at Chicago, it's blacks killing other blacks. But Chicagoans don't want to talk about the racial issue. So when some arguably half-white kid goes on a shooting rampage in Florida, it allows them to focus on taking guns away from everybody.

The problem is that the blacks are not by and large using the same kinds of weapons, so it's kind of a moot point. But that's why you know the endgame for them is the removal of ALL firearms. They are not safe in Chicago until all the guns are removed.

Which incidentally is why gun control is a terrible national issue. It's really more of a local issue. It may well be the case that, the Illinois National Guard going house to house to remove all the firearms in Chicago, and establishing a solid border control around the metropolitan area to keep guns out, would greatly limit the gun violence there. But that's a local issue, not a national issue, and it's arguably a racial issue that nobody wants to admit to.

My old bosses wife posted on FB a couple years back with a pic of the raccoon she shot that was raiding their garden in their 2nd home in VT. .22cal bolt-action. Literally like 3 weeks later, after a school shooting i think, she was posting how "high caliber" weapons like the AR15 should be banned...

I replied to her that the AR was .223, effectively the same "caliber" as the rifle she was so proud of using just a few weeks before to shoot her raccoon garden invader, so she replied that it doesn't have a 30-round "clip". After correcting her on that too i suggested that if she really wants to fight over gun rights she really should learn the correct terminology, otherwise she's just sounding like someone who doesn't know what they are talking about overreacting emotionally rather than sounding informed (which of course she wasnt).

...of course now she's one of the probably 99% of "friends" I have set to ignore their posts, not that I've posted anything on FB in a year or even visit more than every few weeks... Tired of people posting pictures of their meals, cat videos, and uninformed political nonsense.

Yeah, I’ve basically written FB off as a SJW echo chamber full of complainers, virtue signalers, and ignorant busybodies. Killed my account a couple months ago and haven’t been tempted to go back even once.
