How am I stopping them? They are free to work as many hours as they want.
Just don't force people to work more than 48 hrs. Some people want to spend time with their families.

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

All people are free to spend as many hours as they wish with their families. Why do you support ham-stringing both employers and your competitors in the labor market simply to do something you can already do?Montegriffo wrote:How am I stopping them? They are free to work as many hours as they want.

How does an employer force an employee to respond to an email anyway? That might be at the crux of this boondoggle. For all the handwaving and panic-mongering about employers “forcing” employees to respond to email - how exactly is their compliance forced?
Are knee-caps broken?
Pets ransomed?
People poisoned with toxins only the employer possesses the curr for?
I would submit that employers can’t actually force an employee to do anything after hours. So this entire “law” is based more on a goofy leftist cartoon-world where evil boss-man is torturing innocent workers into writing emails than it is on reality.
“Why didn’t you respond to the email I sent at 9PM?”
“I was asleep, called it an early night”
Nope. Too simple. We need laws that fine employers every time some employee checks their work email after 5pm. Even if they’re checking it because they want to - employers should be fined for that.
Pffft

We really should encourage Europe to embrace these ideas.

Why should I have to leave my job if my employer is being unreasonable? I like the option to say ''fuck you I've done my 48 hrs, see you next week''
Why should your employer be saddled with an employee who is unwilling to work according to the demands of the business? What are you, his ex-wife?
You’re not there to collect alimony, you’re there to be paid for performing a job. You’re not available at the hours the job demands? Farewell, may your next employer provide you a more agreeable schedule.
If there are too many hours for one employee my tight arsed boss can employ enough people to do the job. 70 hours a week is not reasonable, the employment contract states 37.5.
Seems like workers rights have a low priority in Liberty land.
God the euro trash is strong. 70 hours is the bare minimum of a successful professional. 37.5 you might get by on Ramen and a studio apartment.
