Not sure about a dedicated book, but honestly, what I do know about it is pretty fucked up. Seriously, they'd probably be better off if we let them go. They never really wanted to be part of the US, but American colonizers fucked with them pretty hard.

I think the actual Hawaiian people deserve their own self-destiny.

A really peaceful solution might be to let them go with the new free state of Kalifornia. Their delegates would have a lot shorter commute to Palo Alto than the current hike all the way to Washington.

We'll either need to keep San Diego in the aftermath of the Grand Farewell, or just annex Tijuana down to Ensenada as a big-assed port / naval base. We could always just buy all of the Baja peninsula south of the current border to stage our Pacific operations, now that I think about it. The only bad part would be the gibs we would have send down south to keep the PX functioning and safe.
