For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Ain't hard on me, I enjoy it, and like I say, now that the kids are all teenagers, all they want for Christmas is gas money and the keys to the spare car, so they're really easy to shop for.GrumpyCatFace wrote:Holidays are hard on everyone. It’s for the kids tho.

Re: Merry Christmas
My oldest nephew is out there somewhere right now, driving around in my Evo, I gave him cash, and the keys to the car, the only stipulation being that he has to chauffeur his brother and sister around, and bring it back washed and detailed at the end of vacation, his eyes lit up like I was Santa himself "best Christmas evah!".
Ho-ho-ho.
Ho-ho-ho.

I suppose so, yeah. It’s been a couple weeks of frantic errands and cleaning around here, in between feedings and tantrums from the kids.heydaralon wrote:Did you have a good christmas Grumps?GrumpyCatFace wrote:Holidays are hard on everyone. It’s for the kids tho.
It’s really just about letting go of the pressure, and doing your best. You’ll never put together The Perfect Christmas, so do Your Christmas.
Just accept what’s possible, and maintain a positive attitude.
We wound up with 10 lbs of Christmas cookies, kids are happy with their stuff, and the house is finally in order again - or at least as much as it can be. My dad is flying into Cleveland in a couple hours, to spend the week, so I’d say things are pretty ideal right now.

My inlaws put together a perfect Christmas, pretty much every year, I come from a broken home and a whole lotta army Christmas after, so Christmas at my inlaws; seems pretty Norman Rockwell to me.

I will get people gifts, my gf, sister, and parents, but getting with the merry program? That I cannot do. Christmas is some bullshit, Smitty. The older I get, the more I believe that the Jews and the Grinch had it right...Smitty-48 wrote:Just quit your bitchin and get with the fuckin' program already, two days out of the year to be merry is not too much to ask, snowflake.heydaralon wrote:Fair enough. Mum loves Christmas but her short term memory has gone so she can't really cope with all the cooking any more. Luckily I inherited her love of cooking so it was no chore to do the food for us.
Annoying or not, a family Christmas is better than one spent alone, even if you do have to watch terrible TV and go outside to smoke your spliffs.
Well, I just dont like Holidays. Idk why, but it puts me in a piss poor mood. Both my parents are in their sixties but they are quite sharp mentally. I will probably have a decade in a half before I have to start worrying about that.

The Jews created modern Christmas. It’s a massive marketing smapaign that guilts/suckers/forces record spending every year. Couldn’t agree more. It’s also very effective. Your kids will not forgive skipping Christmas without a very good reason.heydaralon wrote:I will get people gifts, my gf, sister, and parents, but getting with the merry program? That I cannot do. But, I still like it because it’s the one time of year when you know you’ll get together with the family/friends, and there’s no flaking out over schedules or work. It’s a semi-sacred occasion, and actually respected by people.

I think we all know that Christmas is bullshit. It's an environmental disaster zone, over consumption on an international scale. Non Christians and Christians the world over buying useless plastic crap etc.heydaralon wrote:I will get people gifts, my gf, sister, and parents, but getting with the merry program? The trick is in consuming the least possible and enjoying time with your family.

Re: Merry Christmas
Well like I said before, my wife makes life fun, but Christmas vacation makes her real frisky, three weeks off and she's in a mighty fine mood, so it's pretty hard for me not to be merry, what with the Christmas elf prancing around the mistletoe.heydaralon wrote:I will get people gifts, my gf, sister, and parents, but getting with the merry program? Re: Merry Christmas
I'm not an asshole about it Grumps, even though I agree with you 100%. My family and girlfriend love this stuff, so I try to take a stoic stance and not ruin it for them, the same way you do that for your kids. But I hate how people get excited about what amounts to corporate marketing. How could a sane person get excited about it? People I know are so excited at some coca cola bear christmas ornaments or a snowman salt shaker at Wal Mart. To me that is like getting excited going into the dollar store and seeing some cheap made in China bullshit. And in retail, people act like rude fucking animals. No courtesy, just honking at each other in the parking lot, and flipping out because the store is out of turkey bags. People really behave like greedy stupid animals around the holidays, and they treat eachother like shit at the expense of their families. That has always rubbed me the wrong way. To each his own I guess. I don't have kids, so maybe my attitude will change as I get older...GrumpyCatFace wrote:The Jews created modern Christmas.
