Re: Stop Posting Star Wars Spoilers
See, what's annoying about Star Warsfags and Star Trekfags, is that their excuse is always "real space war couldn't be dramatic", but that's not the case, it would just be different, free falling along curved trajectories in gravity wells would be more like battles between ships in the age of sail, except in three dimensions, you'd have to use the orbital dynamics and energy states to your advantage to get to "broadsides". To wit, less like Top Gun and more like Master and Commander.
Every time I see the Millennium Falcon "flying" around the Star Destroyers, it's hard to maintain suspension of disbelief, and when they hyperspace teleport, that's not even as realistic as Gandalf casting a spell with his staff, in 1977 I didn't understand how space worked, but now I do, and I can't go back, so space war in Star Wars just seems silly to me now.
It's like watching a really cheesy totally nonsensical military movie, after you have served in the military, it's just not that interesting, and you want for something more realistic. A little movie magic is fine, but utterly magical becomes a cartoon.
Like in Rogue One when the Star Destroyers are crashing into each other over a gateway, in orbit, which all remains stationary above a base on the surface below, how does that work? Answer; it doesn't, even as magic it doesn't really work. Even in a magical movie, you can take the magic so far, that even the magic becomes so silly that you can't abide it, you can't stay with it, you fall out of disbelief and start to nod off.

I suppose I've just become my father, because when he used to take me to these movies when I was a kid, he would just nod off and take a nap, they were so silly he found them boring so he just went to sleep. Star Wars 1977, my old man slept through the whole thing.
He had nothing against SF, 2001:ASO, he was all on board for that, but Star Wars? Zzzzzzzz...

He was right to do so. Star Wars is pretty shitty as far as scifi goes. Compared to Phillip K Dick, Star Wars is quite laughable. I can feel the extra chromosomes growing inside me whenever I watch the prequels... And don't get me started on superhero movies...

My old man didn't even have anything against George Lucas, nor even George Lucas Sci-Fi; he loved THX 1138

Saw it last night. It has its moments but it feels like it goes on and on. Force Powers have become ridiculous. No really new ideas; feels recycled/formulaic. 6/10

The Basic problem of the whole saga is that once it did get an actual story, basically with Empire Strikes Back, it then rehashed it again and again.de officiis wrote:Saw it last night. 1. Yes I have kids, two.clubgop wrote:Of course he was afraid of Vader and the Emperor but he was young and stupid and wasn't responsible for their downfall. You have children? Just imagine them having all that power plus the fear of screwing that up. Of course Reys training was half asses or quarter added, so was Luke's that's the whole point. This was a good movie and by far the best one since the original trilogy.SilverEagle wrote:The way they handled Luke’s story was total shit. Luke was afraid of his nephew but not Vader and the Emperor? Fucking please......and that is what made Kylo Ren and yes I get that it was Snoke that put those thoughts in both their minds. Along with that Snoke was this total badass mind bender but could not see that he was about to be killed. Or the fact that Luke never got to train Rey and Snoke never finished or even fucking started Kylo’s final training. So why did they even bring back Luke’s character at all? I should’ve known something was seriously wrong with this film when Disney decided in September of this year to bring back JJ Abrams for episode IX (doubt he can save it at this point) followed by the rave reviews by paid off Disney shills. “Best Star Wars film since Empire” my ass! Fuck off Disney.
2. This movie was slightly better than Episode III.
3. Rating them from best to worst...... V,IV,VI,VII,VIII,III,II,I
