What's your basis for that?
It just seems like a strange prediction to make. When in the last 200 years has China out innovated the US or Western Culture ?
When Xi took over, he made some pretty ballsy claims about China's growth. If they want to hit those targets, it would be smart of them to position themselves as the provider of green tech to the rest of the world if America isn't going to bother prioritizing it. The rest of the world, stupid or not, and useless or not as the Paris Accord may be, is interested in working against climate change. Helps China economically and diplomatically to get all up in it.
China doesn't get lost in the weeds worrying about the justice of their economy. Left or right. They
are very concerned with ending their 'century of humiliation' though.
It doesn't
have to be China that starts out innovating the US in green technology, but someone is going to, and that is why I think it might be the CCP.
OK, thanks.
I'm skeptical that China will ever be able to export real power. I just see no basis for in say the last 3,000 years. Definitely a huge regional power, but never a global power. One could make the case that they have been a global economic power though.
Well, last time China was absolute, undisputed, regional power, there was no such thing as a 'Global Hegemon,' so it is really hard to say.
Right now their problem is that they make their bills by pumping out concrete and metal, building empty cities and unused highways to get to them. That can work for a while, but not forever. I doubt China is ever going to even try to be the military overlord of the world. No point. You don't run the world by having the most boats or guns anymore, if you ever really did. They just like to build that shit because it is a good jobs program, and good optics.
We will see how this whole WPK thing shakes out... but I think that is really going to be Xi's chance to show he is a reliable, strong, level headed ally (assuming we don't all fuck it up, of course). Add to that being a team player on shit like the Paris Accords?
"[Insert Country Name] First" doesn't mean telling everyone else to fuck off. That is Trump's biggest fault when it comes to American interests, if you ask me. He just flat out says, "Eat shit and die faggots, we're looking out for number one!" Which is
fun, but isn't how you
actually work on your own interests when you need to actually
work with said faggots on other stuff.
The Paris Accord
was basically signaling without any real content... but guess what super geniuses, there is a reason virtue signaling is something humans engage in. Being a part of it is saying "yeah, you can work with us, we aren't going to be a bunch of petulant children about everything." It has next to nothing to do with actual climate change... those solutions come later.
/rant.. sorry, sorry everybody, carry one.
