Don't you think you are living in the wrong country if you are against government interference with markets? I'm not well versed on anything Canadian, but aren't their taxes and regulations more onerous than those of the United States?Smitty-48 wrote:No, small business is not being crushed by foreign devils, it's your own Leviathans which crush their domestic competitors, in the name of protecting you from overseas competitition, when in fact that competition is good for you, direct wealth transfer to you from the foreign devils, you take that transfer and start your own business, you hire three guys to work for you, and presto; job growth... until that is, one of your own Leviathan's comes along and gets their government cronies to drive you out of business by intervening on their behalf through overtaxation, overregulation, bureaucratic torpedoing, etc.heydaralon wrote: But it wouldn't just be the Leviathans losing out with free trade. Smaller businesses can't compete with cheaper overseas labor costs either. In fact, they are in less of a position to do so than the bigger firms, which are happy to send the jobs overseas anyway with these agreements. Saves them money in labor.
This is the protectionism scam, it doesn't fuck me, it fucks you, I get subsidized cheaper American products, subsidized by you, I take that money and hire some Canadian goober to work for me, the only Canadian who is pissed off about that, is the CEO of the entrenched interest Canadian leviathan who would like to step on me for trying to compete with them by exploiting the wealth transfer which you gave me.
I was supposed to pay too much in being forced to buy from them, the last thing they want is me taking money from you so that I not only don't buy from them, but actually start selling in their prison yard without the permission of their government cronies. Cue the government cronies to come after me with some bereaucratic torpedo, "didn't have the licence to sell in this prison yard, oh and you didn't fill out the correct forms, too bad so sad, who do you think you are? Get back in your place, small business upstart!"

Meh, it's about the same, but I don't have to do business in Canada, I live here, but money can go anywhere, I can take my profits from US firms in US dollars if I want, I'm not an economic nationalist, that's derp, I'm loyal to the Queen and I'm loyal to my wife, but I don't owe anything to the entrenched Canadian corporate-union interests, nor the government cronies who serve them.heydaralon wrote:

Please. America is a grower, not a shower. Even your geriatric ass hasn't ever seen us properly erect...em, mobilized. By all means, doubt us if you want. Scorn us. We need something to make our men hungry...and looking at reality sure isn't going to do that. Your fantasy of our weakness will only fertilize our ambition.Smitty-48 wrote:(cock analogy)
On the real, in the midst of all that impotent America bashing, you did drop a little nugget, about how NATO has many tiers of financial support, but seemingly only two tiers of power, i.e. America and everyone else. I'm not well versed on how NATO works, but it does seem fitting to offer something to these countries in return for more financial commitment. Maybe that would involve more influence in decision making? Idk but I would like some mechanism for rewarding allies like Canada that behave well.

I think the US should take a page from Athens book and turn NATO into the Delian league. We don't need defense contributions, just straight tribute. We will not use the money to build a Parthenon or shrine to Athena, we will use it to build football stadiums and impressive monuments to our exceptional society.

Oh, I'm actually for peaceful assimilation, where Canada's concerned. The poor bastards can't even talk shit about America without using AMERICAN songs by AMERICAN artists.heydaralon wrote:For their contribution, we can invade them last.Calculus Man wrote:Please. We could transition to a power more like the Republic of Venus once was.
