Most if not all had nothing to do with the Russian election interference scandal, the sources said, speaking only on condition of anonymity given the sensitive nature of the materials.

As I see the smoldering clown careen down over the cliff I have mixed feelings.
First of all, a clown car is a great description of the ineptness of the Obama Presidency, the Hillary candidacy and DNC.
This may sound strange, but I'm pretty proud that we as a country have survived the clown car pretty well. That bunch had almost unlimited resources available to them and they have lost and continue to lose to a political outsider. The set the Dem table with only 5 candidates, only one was viable, and it wasn't Hillary or Bernie, they ran him out early. They had to cheat Bernie, they have the full weight of the corporate media behind them, they illegally spy on Trump for at least a year, probably several and the best they can come up with is vague claims about Russia.
When they fail at all this, they resort to illegal childish tools to try and embarrass Trump by revealing the information they've gathered across the government intelligence community.

I still think this story is a grabbing-at-straws Impeach Trump tactic, but after reading a lot of commentary, what it really does is convince Dems that they actually "won" the election so they don't have to change a damn thing about themselves.

It comes down to this: neomarxists possess a belief in the fallacious concept of historical determinism. They believe there is some trajectory to history, and they are on the right side of it. But this past election totally disproved the idea that history has a direction. Because this is a religious belief in a sense, they are unable to process their loss. So they invent conspiracy theories that claim they were on the right side all along, but the election was stolen.

It's similar to the southern Lost Cause myth, really. It's a coping strategy.
