That's $75 a month for Fruits, veggies, and meat... for a month... for 50 lbs, that comes out to be $1.50 a lb... and out of what I've seen, I'm not being scammed at all.
You are mixing all kinds of different things together and clumping it as "by the pound". I can tell you were scammed already.
Not really, amuse me. How much do you pay for a pound of leek, tomatoes, and a T-Bone Steak?
I pay $1.5 lb for each, sure I pay more in some cases, the majority, nope. You just choose to pay more at the market than I do.

Break it down individually. Anybody putting it all together and selling you a basket by the pound is trying to rob you. Don't be such a rube. You can just fill the basket with bananas to rip somebody off. It's an idea that is fucking dumb from the start.

LOL, no.
I wouldn't fall for a scam like that. I can see the pitch man now: "You get one hundred pounds of food each month for only 99 dollars!!!"
If you don't understand that the price of a pound of bananas is much less than the price of a pound of ground beef, then maybe you deserve to get ripped off.

Ummm, you are daft. Local farm, growing local foods... Last time I checked, you can't grow Bananas in Mass. I understand the cost of beef, I am buying from the supplier, instead of using a third party which jacks the price up to cover storage and shelf space...
YAFFM...

I am all for buying local. Just itemize it. Don't pay for "food by the pound". Pay for beef by the pound separately so you don't get fucked.

You're wasting your time. I've been reading the guy's posts the five years and he's yet to take advice from anyone.

This is the funny thing about US food commodities trade. When the trade goes up, food costs go up for Americans as well. This move will improve the bottom line for the US economy, but as I stated from the get go. Lower income Americans are going to be further pinched.
I don't know what to say.
I love beef. I can't afford to eat the quality of beef I want by buying it from a retailer. So, I've positioned myself to raise my own, butcher and package my own. I realize most people won't be able to do that.
$900 a year for me, and I get 50 lbs a month... as well as a bunch of farm raised seasonal fruits and veggies. Supporting local farmers, and getting top grade meat at the same time. I can't bitch.
Not sure what this means.. You're spending or receiving $900/yr, and for what exactly?
sounds like a farm co-op subscription. I've heard guys say they made a lot of money providing that way.
