In my defense, it really did look like the end of the world in February/March. Since the stats have come out, and we’ve gotten better info, I’ve changed position.Xenophon wrote: ↑Tue Sep 15, 2020 1:02 pmI'm reading back through the thread just to see how our prophecies were working out.
So far, we were all wrong on just about every front. I think it's a good thread to read in order to experience where our headspaces were at at the very beginning of the pandemic and as we lived through the so-called "peak" season.
Saw lots of people window shopping in town today, no face masks. Bowling league is mask free. Same at the park. Finally felt normal around here.

Lucky, in Mass it's Mandatory Masks still... people are getting pissed off.SuburbanFarmer wrote: ↑Tue Sep 15, 2020 4:54 pmIn my defense, it really did look like the end of the world in February/March. We have 'mandatory masks indoors', but nobody gives a shit. This is not the lib-coast.The Conservative wrote: ↑Tue Sep 15, 2020 5:33 pmLucky, in Mass it's Mandatory Masks still... people are getting pissed off.SuburbanFarmer wrote: ↑Tue Sep 15, 2020 4:54 pmIn my defense, it really did look like the end of the world in February/March. As I’ve said before, proud maskers are Dem voters.

And as I've said before, for Mass to go red would be a miracle of such proportions that the world would have to be flipped on its head.

I'm right there with you. At the time, I was very concerned. Even though there were signs of this being a bunch of hysterics at that time, normies found out they aren't as comfortable with the boot of state power on their neck as they thought they'd be, even if it meant grandma might get a cold.SuburbanFarmer wrote: ↑Tue Sep 15, 2020 4:54 pmIn my defense, it really did look like the end of the world in February/March. BIG 10 FOOTBALL IS BACK
This is further indication the scam is over, it's just in its death throws, with administrators clutching desperately to the control they once had over humans.
For these Universities(and the NFL), the Billions $$$$ they would have given up out weighed the fear. Trump is taking a victory lap for this, and good for him. But it's really the ACC, SEC and a handful of smaller schools that held the line against the tyrants. The NFL starting their season with fans was the last straw. The Big Ten called an emergency meeting last Sunday and hammered out a deal to restart.
What will these University Professors, Lefty Mayors and Governors say ? Will they rail against football like they rail against a Trump rally, saying they hate Science ?
Nah, they'll take the money and run.

Working at a university, I can tell you that the leftist professors hold no loyalty towards anything but socialist dogma. They will continue to complain until they don't have an audience. They will make lily-livered protests and form committees and write sternly worded e-mails to college admin. It's just virtue-signaling.C-Mag wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 11:30 amBIG 10 FOOTBALL IS BACK

Well, as soon as they tried the "don't buy masks, masks won't work for you, but they work for healthcare workers" I made sure I had masks - before prices skyrocketed in the short term if you could even find N95s.Xenophon wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 5:01 amI'm right there with you. I always buy the "family pack" 20-roll TP, just less shopping... I had just bought one in January, but I picked up another in early February. Three weeks later the aisle was barren. Same with bleach, it was on sale end of Jan just as the news broke, I bought 2 gallons (gone through one). Also bought a 6pk of 32oz 70% isopropyl, it's been out of stock since - plus three 600ct disinfectant wipes, those were wiped out weeks later too.
Panic isn't necessarily bad if you're ahead of the game. I'm still stocked with all of them (though I did buy more TP the other week just because I already half through the 2nd 20pk).
In general I've always been prepared for at least a month or so food-wise... Never really thought about disease though. But every time some storm (like Sandy a few years back) came through I've identified a few things that maybe I was deficient in being really prepared for, and rectified it.
I look at it as "I'll use it eventually", at least as far as "consumables".
"People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome."
