You'd hold out your hand just like others, and that you judge people who are currently going through such situation and determine that they're pieces of shit who deserve to die means that you're lucky enough to not have had to go through anything such as that *yet*. God forbid you have to, but if you do I'd rather not the government, who is run by all of our tax dollars, leave you in the street to die from an treatable disease or condition.

Fife, we decide what is a public good and what isn't, it's a democratic choice. You say it shouldn't be, I say it should.

I accused him of NO SUCH THING. I was asking generic questions about how we as a society should view this. Not HIM, PERSONALLY. How about I flip the question around and make myself the cold-hearted bastard? Will that make my questions make more sense? Why is everyone deserving of cancer treatment? If you're scraping by on McDonald's wages, what does society gain by spending $100K to get you better?

These are discussions we need to have. If you aren't willing to have them, that's fine, but I'm over here, trying to have the difficult discussions.

As I recall, I've been discussing the solution to America's health care problems more than you have on the MHF. If you want to finally join in the discussion, then welcome to the party, where were you? Oh that's right, you were too busy to discuss this matter in depth previously because you are easily distracted by things that Trump has said that rub you the wrong way, glad you might be starting to snap out of that, at least enough to discuss real issues for a change.

Whenever I try, I get accused of pulling on heart strings and being a flaming socialist. You guys cannot stand people who won't take a solid stance because the water is murky and things need to be discussed. You only want to argue with people who claim to know all the answers, so you can bitch.

You guys are becoming completely incapable of doing anything except scream SOCIALIST! when someone says something that poses a question in search of knowledge.

It's an ideological purity spiral.

We have to go with practicality and effectiveness. No practical or effective solution is going to comport to some ideology.

Hard for me to blame others for making that mistake when you keep bringing up the "Dying In the Streets" card. It's no wonder they are confusing you for a raging socialist on the subject, when you go and do that, just drop that schtick already, it will do you a world of good.

You'll find that if you stop playing the "dying in the streets" card, then having a rational discussion on health care is a whole lot easier.

Kath has only made logical arguments.

Kath never appealed to emotion.

Kath never asserted that disagreeing with her means you want to see people dead in the streets.

Kath never even mention people dying.

Realistically, how do you see that playing out? Are you comfy that people will literally have to sit and watch as their loved ones die in agony because they couldn't afford chemo or drugs?

So what you're saying is "She's right, but she just said it so darn mean..."

That's pretty much what they're saying. If you get sick and the cure is outside of your ability to pay it back? Too bad, so sad, should have made more money. Okee pays his own way, and if he or his gets sick enough that it outstrips his ability to pay? Guess he'll have to stand on principle and let him and/or his die.

Stop playing the "dying in the streets" card. That's a losing argument, and a blatant appeal to emotions as a way to dismiss those you disagree with.
