The multiple times it happened pre-2015.So what makes you think anti-trust laws would stop an ISP from throttling traffic to websites they find offensive?
No, genius. That is what triggered the net neutrality policy.
Anti-trust laws are not going to stop these abuses.

Re: Net Neutrality
How does giving even more power to ISP's which have effective local monopolies jive with Libertarian free market ideals? I can't figure that one out. The inadvertent effect of no net neutrality is a de facto censorship of ideas that the gov't (with collusion via ISPs) which also runs square in the face of freedom of expression. As Speaker pointed out, all data is equal, especially when a consumer pays for it every month. Libertarians are big on choice, especially consumer choice, and Net Neutrality revocation flies in the face of that. Some real mental gymnastics going on here...

Try not to do anything too drastic during this time of great panic.

Re: Net Neutrality
Anti-Trust laws historically have been far better at breaking up Unions than Big Business. I forget the case that set this precendent. E C Knight Sugar Company or some shit. In the past, the robber barons used those laws to shut down people who complained and attempted to leverage better working conditions. Makes me think those laws were designed that way on purpose tbh...Speaker to Animals wrote:And back to the question you insufficiently answered..

So what makes you think anti-trust laws would stop an ISP from throttling traffic to websites they find offensive? We already see Google removing them from the first pages of search results. We see social media companies blocking content on their platforms. But we don't see some nebulous anti-trust law stepping in to stop those practices.

You don't have to live under monopolies.
You don't understand how libertarians think with respect to the rest.

Re: Net Neutrality
I would be less appalled by this decision if there was actually a free market going on, and people had several dozen ISPs to choose from in their area. But we know that's not the case. The same ISPs that eagerly repealed this will lobby congress to prevent any local competition in their cartel zones. If you think Comcast gives a flying fuck about delivering a good product, and cares about free markets and its customers needs, I have some beads to trade Manhattan for.
