The more I read and watch about the Covington boys incident, the more angry I get. I do a Google search for it and 99% of the stories that come up are fake news.

An example. HuffPo article that says kids were chanting "build the wall". yeah, HuffPO is garbage, but it's one of the top stories that comes up on Google news, meaning it will be one of the most read. Their own embedded video shows nothing like what they state in the article. No one can be heard saying or chanting build the wall. Yet dozens of comment below the article refer to it as fact.

These boys were set up because they had MAGA hats and were white. The boys are labeled racists, yet the group caught on video calling them faggots, crackers, being told to go home to Europe, etc. are not admonished one bit. Fucking disgusting. My distrust for the media was already at 0, but now they have taken things to the point where I feel like they truly are an enemy of the people, at least of white, non-liberal people.

Even CNN attempted to walk back their coverage this morning. This disgusting spectacle has the media coming out pretty badly.

Too late. The damage has already been done, which at this point I assume the worst from our media and am convinced their initial deception was intentional. All the walking back and retractions will get a fraction of the attention the original lies did. A good portion of the population will leave with the impression that these kids are a bunch of racists.

Still don't see any headlines about the groups that was calling these kids all kinds of names. Where is the LGBTQLMNOP crowd being outraged at the use of the word faggot?

Between this and Buzzfeed this week, whatever hope I had left in our media to at least try and do the right thing in some cases has crashed to 0. US media is now 100% reality TV to me now.

Made the mistake of visiting an old forum that turned into a far-left safe space. One person wrote that the kids deserved any hostility or violence against them simply because they wore MAGA hats. Said wearing that hat is identifying yourself as a Nazi and is the the same thing as wearing a swastika or a Klan hood. Another calls them future Nazis and school shooters.
