The spill was caused by negligence and poor reg's.
If you add that $65 billion to the cost of generating electricity from fossil fuels the renewable alternatives look a lot more economically viable and better for the environment.
That's my train of thought, yours is off the tracks.
See an environmental problem, blame Global Warming...…………………. No ?
A neighbor of mine is one of about 3 people in the world that are tech experts on oil drilling alarm systems. He sets up and repairs these deep well alarms, and reviewed the Gulf BP spill. It was negligence in a sense.
These alarms are very sensitive, so they go off all the time and the human system monitor has to check to see that everything is cool or if it's time to back off on pumping. In this case the system monitor ignored the alarm, then bam, the whole fucking thing went.
That was Act II of the Tragedy. Act III is the implosion of Obama. He was so scared of revealing what happened he covered it up with lies and deceit, causing even more sea life in the gulf to die. Like MacBeth, Obama becomes more tyrannical to cover the lies.

Yes, it took that long to design, build and deploy the device to cap it off.C-Mag wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2019 12:21 pm

Decent regulations would have ensured there were contingency plans for this kind of deepwater spill that could have been implemented immediately.
Wonder why the government was economical with the truth?
From your own link...
Big oil is not your friend. There is some suspicion that the Obama Administration's relatively weak stance toward BP and complicity in covering up the full magnitude of environmental harm done by the spill is due to influence on the administration by Larry Fink, CEO of BlackRock, the largest shareholder of BP at the time of the spill.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.
