You have to do it in stages, though. You are in the right direction for end goals, but getting from here to there is definitely not simple.

1) On the one hand, if I was the government and I wanted to fix this problem, step one would be end the black and grey market. Shut down illegal and work diligently to get everything to legal.

2) One the other hand, the government does not remotely want to solve this problem.

3) On the third hand between your legs, Government sucks at all of this any way so fuck them, look to your own community and network... don't wait on angel outsiders to save you. They're not coming. Cultivate your own agency.

No, trying to get there from here would probably get you killed, because that’s a lot of money you’ll be taking from some old hands playing a rigged game.

But the solution addresses an abundance of problems that compound upon each other, one after another. I don’t expect to see the charade end in my lifetime (or ever) - but it’s not because we lack a solution.

Step one, and actually the easiest one (which is the scariest part), is enforcing immigration law. Build the wall and patrol it. Deport all illegals. Imprison Americans who knowingly hire them.

That one would cause much of the California mega farms to sell off parcels. Then find ways to transition people from the Californian cities into small farms with small business loans and education programs.

Once you have that going, ending the subsidies will not come as such a shock on the food supply.

Now, granted, going back to small farms means lower aggregate yields. So that means less food aid.

Then there is the issue with corn ethanol subsidies and regulations. Those probably have to be reduced or eliminated with the subsidies.

The question is not whether struggling Americans are willing to work on corporate farms for $14/hour. The question is how do we get those people on their own farms, picking their own vegetables, and getting them to market?

There’s always the “join them” option as well. Maybe the MHF members should all pitch in on buying some grain silos, and then have Martin negotiate a contract for us to store the excess grain the government buys with the taxpayers dime.

Can’t get a more low-maintainance gig than that.

“How you retire already?”

“Government pays me $2.5mil to store all the excess wheat so that the wheat market doesn’t dip below X value per bushel”

“What? What do you do with all that wheat?”

“ Dump it when it rots. Clear out the silo. Take the next shipment.”

Definitely going on my list of possibilities when I need a retirement income.

What I really want right now is a small farm. I cannot sit for long without severe pain. I need to be active to keep the pain at bay. A small farm would be ideal.

Getting from disability to buying some land and a house isn't all that easy.

A lot of us on disability are only partially disabled, but the government keeps us trapped here full-time.

You're closing in on a subtle point. However, it's the key to this whole step one business. There is a difference between border control for people and border control for goods. It's not a minor distinction. Let's start with absolutely solid borders as to humans, and absolutely open borders as to voluntary exchange of property, and work from there.
