Plenty of countries without roads you can emigrate to, Fife.

We need to do to the food industry what micro brews have done to beer.

I was told that Daddy Monsanto is a good father, and we shouldn't hate him.Kath wrote:Gonna have to get Daddy Monsanto to agree, and he owns most of the politicians.C-Mag wrote:

Well ... Monsanto isn’t dictating that the US taxpayer purchase countless agricultural commodities at certain price points to maintain an arbitrary and artificial price floor. That would be the work of your friendly neighborhood Ds and Rs.

Jheez............ draining that swamp is going to be tough. I basically OK with Sonny Perdue, but I don't think I see him doing that anytime soon.Kath wrote:Gonna have to get Daddy Monsanto to agree, and he owns most of the politicians.C-Mag wrote:

It can be done. It has to happen like the local breweries. Just have to out compete corporate farming in quality, it can cost a little more, but people will pay for the quality.

Few countries in the world can argree on much of anything, but we've had global wheat control prices since the 30s. Think about that, leading up to and through a world war everyone agreed we need to control the price of wheat.

GCF logic strikes again. Any level of abuse doesn't matter, but us getting to keep an additional $50 a paycheck because of tax reform is going to ruin us.GrumpyCatFace wrote:Any level of food stamp "abuse" doesn't matter in the first place. Do whatever the hell you want with the money. If you wind up starving on the street corner, that's your problem.
This is a complete non-issue in terms of the federal budget, in the first place.
Doing whatever the hell they want with food stamp money is exactly the problem for all of us who pay taxes. Of course GCF isn't even concerned with the poor kids who get Cheetos for breakfast because mom sells the rest for cash and then buys alcohol or drugs.
I want some SNAP benefits from the government of GCF. He don't care what I spend it on, or if I even need it because it isn't the biggest expense in the budget. WOOOOO!

Nothing to see here folks, GCF says it's not an issue. Every malnourished child had been removed from their parents abusive home and is now living a perfectly happy and nourished life. Next week GCF is going to eliminate world hunger because he already has the solution here.GrumpyCatFace wrote:We already take malnourished children away from their parents. Most of it is going to single mothers and is meant for children, so yeah, abuse is a problem when it occurs. Personally, I think the children should be taken if this happens. If some chick is cashing her EBT funds illegally when those funds are supposed to help feed her children, then her cashing it in for money implies child abuse.

We could trim the SNAP budget, or we could actually enforce the use of it for food more strictly. But ultimately, what they do with it is their own responsibility. Do you think a drug addict won't find a way to trade their surplus food for a fix?
You think we'd be better off sending out 10 million monthly food packages purchased, shipped, and delivered by the government from a budget perspective? Would that be better for the vast majority of recipients that actually buy food with it? Or would it just make you feeeeeeeel soo gud, man?
