Antibiotics are a double edged sword, doesn't wipe bacteria out, actually makes bacteria stronger, this is why MRSA is concentrated in hospitals and it's so hard to kill.GrumpyCatFace wrote:We should really share some antibiotic technology with the northern tribes, but they just can't seem to afford the payments. Besides, their herd immunity will help us Southrons in the event of bacterial pandemic.

And this is why I take medication for colds, very, very sparingly. The only time I ever do that is if I have a full blown temp and am bedridden. Otherwise, I just tough it out and call it a day.Smitty-48 wrote:Antibiotics are a double edged sword, doesn't wipe bacteria out, actually makes bacteria stronger, this is why MRSA is concentrated in hospitals and it's so hard to kill.GrumpyCatFace wrote:We should really share some antibiotic technology with the northern tribes, but they just can't seem to afford the payments. That's your most likely bacterialogical pandemic scenario in the USA, it's not Y. pestis coming from Madagascar, it's ab resistant staff or strep coming from the hospitals and spreading through the schools.

Trust me I know, we had a scare with my wife's sister's school...Smitty-48 wrote:That's your most likely bacterialogical pandemic scenario in the USA, it's not Y. pestis coming from Madagascar, it's ab resistant staff or strep coming from the hospitals and spreading through the schools.

I’m still not convinced that any bacteria could be that virulent, or contagious. It’s all about viruses.

Bacterialogical is worse than virulogical, bacterialogical is the ultimate bioweapon, it has the most vectors, and is the hardest to kill.GrumpyCatFace wrote:I’m still not convinced that any bacteria could be that virulent, or contagious. It’s all about viruses.

Here is something to help show the difference.Smitty-48 wrote:Bacterialogical is worse than virulogical, bacterialogical is the ultimate bioweapon, it has the most vectors, and is the hardest to kill.GrumpyCatFace wrote:I’m still not convinced that any bacteria could be that virulent, or contagious. Re: The Plague Ward
The exotic nature of viruses like SARS, while more lethal at the tactical level, actually makes them less lethal at the strategic level, the sheer amount bacteria in the environment, makes it much more strategically lethal if you get a super strain, vaslty more vectors, much more difficult to contain.

Re: The Plague Ward
You don't need a super-strain really, you just need a quick way to distribute it. The best way really is just going in and out of the subway, train stations, and airports and you'll have the world infected in less than a week if it's not caught fast enough.Smitty-48 wrote:The exotic nature of viruses like SARS, while more lethal at the tactical level, actually makes them less lethal at the strategic level, the sheer amount bacteria in the environment, makes it much more strategically lethal if you get a super strain, vaslty more vectors, much more difficult to contain.

Just because the word virus sounds more virulent than bacteria to the layman, that doesn't mean that is actually the case.GrumpyCatFace wrote:I’m still not convinced that any bacteria could be that virulent, or contagious. It’s all about viruses.

Don't know who told you it's all about the viruses, but you've been mislead.
