You failed provide me with any evidence that MIC gives a flying fuck about hardening the nation's infrastructure. It obviously doesn't benefit them at all, and probably would jeopardize some of their contracts. I presented the evidence. The only people really pushing for this is a small group of scientists and engineers. I provided the article with links to two different Congressional committees and the report from the National Academy of Science, all explaining just how fatal such an attack could potentially be.

The MIC goes where the money is, NERC and FERC, the power companies, which would have to bear the cost of hardening the power grid, they've derailed funding for that in Congress, the MIC is targeting other aspects of the private sector for EMP defense, the banks and data centres to start of with.

Congress may have caved into the power company lobby, but Wall Street is making sure they will have their data protected, the EMP hysteria pays off for the MIC no matter what.

The only way MIC can get the money is buying out the power companies and/or subcontractors. This isn't high-tech equipment we are talking about. It's just shielding cables and power plants. It's not something that benefits them at all. It would be a great stimulus project for the American people, though. Most of that work would be done by small subcontractors.

The government would subsidize that shit, bro. Just like every other infrastructure improvement. Hell, I worked on some of the infrastructure projects for the wireless industry that came through a few years after 9-11. I built the GPS hardening code into site controllers for one of the wireless networks.

The government said: Hey, the NAS determined that our infrastructure is vulnerable to GPS spoofing. Here is x amount of dollars to harden this particular wireless network from being spoofed. Get to it.
