Ok, so a chunk of people own more than one gun. So what? My father had 4 and his Class A permit in Mass. He had the option to carry; never felt the need to use it. Some people may collect them, some people may need different guns for hunting.
That statistic fails to point out how many people in the house are licensed, how many are taking the proper safety precautions, etc...
Yes, there's a fuckton of guns in the US. Yes, there's some ignorant morons who spout off and show off how strapped they are. The problem is the squeaky wheel is getting all the attention. There's still a majority of gun owners out there who are responsible about their firearm ownership (some may even be NRA members ).
Which you never answered my question; what's your beef with the NRA? The money or the people?

Re: 'Fire in a Crowded Theater' is a Dead Giveaway
Hello again, old thread my friend. There are some of our old long lost 'rades in this one.
From the Make No Law podcast:
Fire in a Crowded Theater
Some of you all are familiar with Ken White. If you aren't yet, get so.
But what does it mean today, in 2018? What does it mean when people repeat it to support some restriction on free speech or on other rights? What legal weight does it have?
It really means absolutely nothing. It’s a rhetorical device to say the First Amendment is not absolute, which is true, but that’s not in dispute. So unless you say it in response to someone who says the government can’t punish any speech whatsoever, it does not advance the argument you are making. It doesn’t say a single thing of substance about whether the speech you are talking about is protected by the First Amendment.

Ken White explores the origins of the phrase “You can’t yell ‘fire’ in a crowded theater” and whether or not it actually calls for exceptions to the First Amendment.

Don't know everyone else but I am tired of waiting for the race wars to start. What everyone should do is insist on their right to incite racial hatred so we can get the ball rolling.
The race war coverage will be worth the TV license fee alone.

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.
