The fact is, Windows 10 is a terrible experience and a terrible OS. Frankly, if this is Windows now, I don't see the point of staying here. I'd rather just go back to Linux.

These days, it's actually true. Used to not be the case for the average user.

It's true that most games are developed primarily for Windows still, but consider also that most publishers have abandoned the PC market for the console world anyway. PC games are no longer the primary scene in the gaming world anyway. The rise of the XBox, ironically, could spell the end times of Windows as a PC OS.

Open source technically produces better quality. It's crazy because there's not much money it in, but that's what happened. These socialist software engineers writing code after work are killing capitalism, yo!

Windows 10 has a built-in version of Hyper-V that can be enabled as a feature. It's a Type II hypervisor like VMWare Workstation. Most variants of Debian and Red-Hat will run in it no problem. I even installed TempleOS in it, but didn't really know what to do with it.

VMWare Player is still free, I think, but not as full-featured as Workstation:

The aforementioned VirtualBox is always a good choice, too:
