Just stop. China did not agree that we could violate the armistice agreement.

Sure thing bud. We'll see what happens. I have a feeling something was negotiated recently. Although, if China isn't trading with them now, nobody will. Could make Kim dependent on foreign aid entirely.

Maybe they did because they plan on violating it themselves. Maybe the Chinese are just as sick of the Kim's as America is. It's starting to look like they came to some kind of agreement to at least pinch North Korea via increased saber rattling from both sides, if not co-ordinate to punish North Korea on an even larger scale.

The only thing that was negotiated was the promise that if the US violates the armistice and crosses the DMZ again, there will be a repeat.

China and South Korea can deal with this together. We should only support them.

Crossing the DMZ is a very, very bad idea.

They are sick of this shit. But I doubt they want US troops crossing that parallel.

On the other hand, if they do deal with it, they can get US troops out of the peninsula altogether, which pretty much everybody wants.

If the Pentagon thought that there was even a slim chance that they might have an escalation on the DMZ, they'd be doing a hell of a lot more than just rerouting the Carl Vinson, the Carl Vinson steaming by doesn't even amount to saber rattling, if things were actually heating up, there'd be four or five carrier strike groups en route.

I doubt it too, but you never know.

The US doesn't want out of Korea, they don't even want out of Japan yet, wishful thinking.

Yeah we do. It costs us a lot to maintain troops there, especially after our fair-weather friends (*cough* Canada) took off and left us holding the bag there.

If Trump can convince China to finally remove that family from power and install their own puppet government or reunify Korea, then that could easily redeem his presidency and then some.

If he sends troops across the DMZ, it won't matter because we won't be able to talk much about it online for a good five to ten years before we got power again.

In fact, a lot has to happen for things to escalate, actually.

North & South Korea and the US have learned a rather curious tit for tat procedure for the "cease fire violations".

Nope, no escalation to war...

They maybe sick of Kim's shit but they want to keep him in power so that when he acts up they can go in and calm things down but only after they get what they want from the U.S.A., like getting Trump to back down from a trade war with them. China wants us to keep a worried eye on N.K. for that reason. Kim is just a predictable dog that the Chinese use as a bargaining chip.
