Insurgency is just that asymmetric-loser-warfare you hate so much. Just plant an mine or an IED and go away... then wait for the enemy to step on it.
A smart enemy just ignores you, you're Finland, nobody wants Finland, you can have it.

Newsflash, bubba's, whenever the clickbait about the DF-21D flies, from combatant commanders particularly, particularly PACOM, the real missile which is at the center of all this hype, is not the DF-21D, it's this missile rigth here right hur...

Lockheed Martin/Raytheon BMD from the sea; that's who's marketing the ZOMG clickbait, not the PLA.

Who's actually doing any bluffing though? I recall China talking tough over the SCS but it seems like our MSM is doing all the actual talking right now. I fucking wonder about ssu's ministry of Truth sometimes. He seems to be tied to the hip with our local liberal media with his talking points as unlikely as that would seem on the face of it.
Well, it's not like the US MIC, er I mean, MSM, minds if the Chinese rattle sabers, it just plays right into the Americans hands, I mean, what better marketing campaign for Lockheed Martin and Raytheon, than "ZOMG DF-21D!!!"?

That's the money shot right there right thur, Aegis Destroyer BMD from the sea, Lockmart AN/SPY series and Raytheon Standard Missile 6, yo.

In the end, Nuclear Hitler meme favours the MIC, self fullfilling prophecy when Trump heats the arms race up again, by going on a wild defense pork spending spree, which he said he is going to do, and will do, because; Republicans yo.

I'm ok with this on some levels. More concerned about other things.

I'm bigly ok with it on all levels, the US is nowhere near MIC stimulus capacity, the MIC can't be offshored, has to be Made in America or by American subsidiary in Canada, or the Congress wont buy it, and just because you don't want to fight counterinsurgencies, doesn't mean you don't want the most kick ass hi tech military money can buy, since when do Americans want to be Giant Canada? Never. Massive defense build up is MAGA all the way.

Plus Smitty needs a new truck, MC MIC say; me love you long time, braby, defense pork make me so horneeee...

I think we make our fatigues in Guatemala or something because congress said the chemicals or the process violated EPA restrictions. Lel

Clothing is not defense pork, defense pork is big ticket industrial products and the military bases which house them. The pork is all about keeping the bases open, this is why everybody is fighting it out right now, to get an F-35 Squadron based in their district, the bases is where the real money is, that's where you get the persistent spin offs which last for decades.

Why were there Reps fighting to keep the A-10 alive? They didn't get an F-35 squadron in their district, and they didn't want their A-10's taken away, as then their base would be BRAC'd.

America is not addicted to defense pork because of combat fatigues, if its not big enough to keep a base in the disctricts open, it's not pork.

As far as production goes, the plants have to be tantamount to bases, General Dynamics in Lima Ohio, Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth Texas, Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula Mississipi, etcetera.

Not about imminent war and whatever clickbait, just about the developments.

Japan btw. is setting a record defence budget, yet one that is only 1% of GDP, hence not a dramatic shift. (China for comparison is at 2% and the US at 3,3%)
The $44 billion (5.1 trillion yen) Defense Ministry spending plan puts a focus on defending the Senkaku Islands. The budget includes billions of yen for six new submarines equipped with improved sensor technology that could also prove useful against Chinese challenges.
Center focus seems to be on the Navy, even if the F-35 program will be the biggest spending item on the budget. First four are built in Fort Worth and the rest 38 in Japan. Japan has now seven Soryu diesel-electric submarines and ten Oyashio-subs, which basically aren't yet so old to be replaced (and hence the size of the submarine fleet is increased). (The PLAN has over 60 subs)

History of the Japanese submarine production:

The Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force is quite capable force, even if it's stance is portrayed as totally defensive. For example the Aircraft carriers are called "Helicopter Destroyers". What is noteworthy is that even if especially the Izumo-class Helicopter Destroyers are quite big, they have only helicopters. The Atago and Kongo resemble the Arleigh Burke-class destroyers of the USN.

Size comparisons...

The Aegis BMD Project has been around for a while. Started when the old Patriot system (developed in the 1960's and onward) that was present during Gulf War was shown not to be such a superweapon it was first hyped to be (it didn't hit those scuds). But again it's the bullet hitting the incoming bullet. I assume that after decades of work in this field, the systems start to be quite efficient. I don't know how much easier (or difficult) it's actually hit the satellites and the communications, which are necessary for any ballistic missile engagement.
