The trailer was a rental, the company didn't know how it was being used.

Sounds like OC.

Wonder if he'll turn states evidence to reduce his sentence.
Sergei kept his mouth shut, but he seems like dumber Sergei, so he might open his mouth and end up dead.
His parents are from Laurelvale, which means he's a Protestant, which means it's not Republican OC, so not that hardcore, may not even be OC, maybe just some wannabe's
He best hope it's wannabe's. He best hope it's not Marlo either.

He's being held in England, pretty safe there from the Irish.

For now. He turns rat though, and goes into Witness Protection, he better hope there is no one to leak his location. Or a Tony Soprano type doesn't happen to spot him over a decade later.

I'm not buying this innocent driver theory.
The tractor and driver came all the way from Dublin. That's a thousand quid ferry plus a drive the whole width of the country to get to Kent to pick up a trailer. That's not economically viable when you could use a local Kent transport company for a fraction of the price.
Also, the industrial estate where he stopped to unload is a well known dumping ground for illegals. Foreign passports are found there regularly and discarded cell phones.
Why would you drive all the way from Ireland to pick up a trailer and then stop 30 mins from the port?
If you had to check the cargo you would do that when you hitched the trailer.
Guilty as fuck I reckon. Life sentences all round.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

The guy doesn't even own the truck, he's driving for a company, boom, expectation of privacy gone, the truck is not even his property, public roads, somebody else's truck, refrigerator truck at -25C and you put 39 people in the back? That's not privacy protected.

I mean, that's mass murder really, you can't claim "whoops" when you lock people in -25C. And I assume he did this for money, so that's brutal, monstrous. Froze 39 people to death for a few shekels, that's cold.

The only defense I can think of is that he didn't put them in the truck and wasn't aware that they were in there, but that seems unlikely.

Obviously he didn't didn't think they would be dead, but I mean, c'mon, -25C for how many hours? That's at least 2nd degree murder, 39 counts.
That company seems to have been involved. People that depraved can only hide it to some extent. The driver must have known he was working for crooks. Maybe not the full extent of it, but he knew they were shady.
Ah I see, well it's Ulster, so it could be organized crime, is he Protestant or Papist?
The truck was registered two years ago in Varna in Bulgaria. That town is known for its connections with Irish republican gangs.

This really does seem like the second season of The Wire, real life version, the similarities are spooky.

Boris is fucked, don't care what his real name is, I'm going with Boris.

No driver will unpack a load to check every square foot of it. Throw some pallets on the back and the driver might check to make sure everything looks secure. Not saying he's innocent but it's not common for drivers to load the truck. Though sometimes they do, depends

If it's OC, they ain't going to use a driver they don't trust who could bumble into outing the whole operation.
