Yeah, I saw the Politico editor say that she'd already turned in her notice before the comment.TheReal_ND wrote:She works for the Atlantic now.
Just to show how bad a shape we are in, my immediate thought was then they probably arranged this incident to make Politico look like they LITERALLY are a non-biased news source. That was my immediate reaction. I don't want it to be. I want to have the same trust and faith in the US institutions I had when I watched WW2 classics with my grandpa. I am not sure how that ever returns though without witnessing something I can't even imagine.

I think at this point we are forced to become "news analysts". Major stories bought here as news or "sources" will be rebutted in most cases depending on where they came from and who posted them. Might be worthy of its own thread. (I started to make one in the past but got sidetracked)StCapps wrote:You can try but on this forum, you are going to get called out on that. The citizens of this nation are either going to become more engaged and informed or the partisanship will increase.
The Right still has the institution of religion to fall back on and to muster around. The Left is totally splintered though. They don't trust the Govt at any level. They don't trust law enforcement. Even union members are bailing. All that is left for Liberals to defend are SJW issues.

DHS Chief: 'No Evidence That Hacking by Any Actor Altered the Ballot Count'
WASHINGTON – Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said there is “no evidence” that any “bad actor” actually changed the ballot count in the presidential election.
Last week, President Obama ordered a review of possible Russian interference in the election.
“I think it’s important to note that on election night we had our guard up for this. We had our crisis action team ready on election night. We did not see anything that amounted to altering ballot counts or degrading the ability to report election results, nothing out of the ordinary,” Johnson said during a Washington Post Live event on Tuesday evening. “There’s always a certain amount of noise that goes on there but on election night itself, we didn’t see anything that affected the ballot count.”

I've been burned enough that whenever I see anything remotely suspect posted on FB, I go look for other sources. If the only source I can find is the one source, I consider it tin-foil hat, at best.kybkh wrote: I think at this point we are forced to become "news analysts".
Frankly, the ones I trust most are places like BBC & Al Jezeera, though I find Fox is often very credible (if you stay away from their opinion junk, especially that morning trio, yikes) and CNN is usually credible.
Account abandoned.

What a shocker that their fact checkers are known to have a Democrat and establishment bias :OA team of Facebook researchers will also review website domains and send sites that appear to be fake or spoofed (like "washingtonpost.co") to third-party fact checkers, a Facebook spokesperson said. Of the 42 news organizations that have committed to Poynter's fact-checking code of ethics, Facebook is starting out with the following four: Snopes, Factcheck.org, ABC News, and PolitiFact.

Comey to Trump: The Russians Didn't Influence the Election
n telephone conversations with Donald Trump, FBI Director James Comey assured the president-elect there was no credible evidence that Russia influenced the outcome of the recent U.S. presidential election by hacking the Democratic National Committee and the emails of John Podesta, the chairman of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.
What’s more, Comey told Trump that James Clapper, the director of National Intelligence, agreed with this FBI assessment.
The only member of the U.S. intelligence community who was ready to assert that the Russians sanctioned the hacking was John Brennan, the director of the CIA, according to sources who were briefed on Comey’s conversations with Trump.
"And Brennan takes his marching orders from President Obama," the sources quoted Comey as saying.

Is Al Jazeera still around in English? I thought they ran out of money after accusing the NFL of using steroids and closed up.Kath wrote:Frankly, the ones I trust most are places like BBC & Al Jezeera, though I find Fox is often very credible (if you stay away from their opinion junk, especially that morning trio, yikes) and CNN is usually credible.kybkh wrote: I think at this point we are forced to become "news analysts".
I agree that getting other country's state-sponsored propaganda (BBC/RT) definitely helps to form a more complete picture of the news.

I like to take opposition news and filter through Twitter reporters I have some confidence in to weed out tin foil. Realclear is the best site to find disparate views.
Twitter is the arbitrator of truth for me right now.
Is that bad??
