Why does not being mainstream bother you? This being America after all, why isn't a small group of people that carry your whole world, enough? Why do you need more than just that culture?

Been a poet since I was 15, wrote my first book for some gal and gave her the whole thing (she has the manuscript/copies). She loved it. Some folks that read what I write, love it. I'm never going to show you guys for obvious reasons, but yesterday was the first time anyone has ever paid me actual money for poetry. Woman at work paid me $20 for a poem.

Now say I built up a small following at a bar somewhere with an open mic, somewhere in the city. If I connected with folks like me or folks enough like me that it fills that need, where I no longer feel that need.

Is it an American ideal that everything needs to be pushed mainstream? Wouldn't it be better if I just created my own bit of culture? And the best thing the world could do was forget about me?

Get better everyday but mainstream success? That shit doesn't matter.

I got a 1310. And I stock shelves now. It turns out standardized tests do not save you from being a total fucking piece of human shit. I should have dropped out and enrolled in a trade school. Oh well, at least I know a lot of synonyms and how to use words properly in sentences...

Yeah that shit only matters if you’re trying to get into the Ivy League. Work is valued by experience, character, and learning ability. In that order.

Good thing I don't have experience then right? Now that I have a paid internship, I may be qualified to put tomatoes on the shelf at Whole Foods. I am a dreamer and I am reaching for the stars. I know, I know, you have to be realistic in your goals, but this is something I'm going to shoot for.
