You're invading a foreign country because they're sinking all your merchant vessels and have seized Hawaii, given that you have no Navy. And while you're flying your tanks the long way around their AA systems they're reinforcing the border you plan to run those thanks through with minefields, light mechanized SALCOS vehicles, and AT teams.

Meaning it sucks to be in Hawaii, sailing an American ship, or any part of your Armor brigades.

My nearby airbase is hosting a fleet of Predators, and strike fighters, bent on destroying anything in the path of my tanks. Whatever few days I lost in tank warfare, were easily compensated by targeted bombing of AA sites and ground emplacements.

Now you tell me that we can't possibly do that because of some Russian AA system that's unstoppable from the air. Then Smitty comes in and man-splains all over your ass that nothing can stop the USAF. You cry a little, then go back to telling me I'm an idiot... want to stop now?

This forced-march ground war nonsense is over. It was made obvious in the 90s, when we walked into Baghdad with barely a casualty. Our military simply does not need a surface naval fleet. End of story.

In fairness to Grumpy, the Marine Corps is sort of turning itself into an air force now, slowly but surely, as the opposed beach landing becomes an ever more remote prospect, the Marines are investing in sea to land air power, F-35 and V-22 are the centerpieces of the Marine Corps now, while they are allowing heavy amphibious assault capabilities to wither on the vine.

Why would we dick around on the coast? Again, there are 800+ American fucking bases in the world. There's no where that we can't simply fly troops to, and proceed from there in armored convoys. What the fuck are you going to do from the beach, march on foot to the local capital?? Wrong century, man.

There are plenty of places that you can't simply fly troops to. Armored convoys are not always the best way to roll if you need to hit an objective that isn't near the land border of an ally. Sometime amphibious assaults work better, sometimes armored convoys work better.

Shall we presume that you possess some intimate knowledge on every topic that you argue here? Just to pick the easiest one, how many times have you had lunch with Donald Drumpf? Stop trying to reject everything with "You don't know, man", and actually respond to what I'm suggesting.

I am responding to what you are suggesting and it's so often completely preposterous that it's become obvious that you don't know what you are talking about. Yet you seem so sure that you are right despite how clearly limited your knowledge of the subject matter is, I don't pretend that I'm some expert in a field that I know nothing about, but you are trying to make it sound like only a bonehead would use the navy to achieve a military objective instead of the army or air force, and such claims require extraordinary evidence on your part, and "I can't conceive of a use for so it must be useless" doesn't fly.

That's being overly fair to Grumps because he prefers to speak in absolutes. He sees no use for amphibious assault under any scenario, the Marines not so much. The Marine Corps might prefer to focus it's capabilities elsewhere, but that isn't the point grumpy was trying to make, he said amphibious assaults are useless altogether.

I'm not claiming expertise in anything, other than being a taxpayer that doesn't want to pay for our military ruling the world. I am a bit more versed in some areas than most, but not in the military.

If you have a legit argument against my idea, then say it plainly.
