My grandmother-in-law is dead now, but she was a teenager in Germany in the war, and she said the people she hated the most was the British. The RAF was bombing them, like every couple days, heavily, her town was completely flattened.
One thing I recently learned was that the rocket attacks on London were always retaliatory. The Allies would firebomb a city, killing many thousands of civilians, and the Germans would retaliate with a rocket attack on civilians in England.

She said nobody liked the Jews, she told me to never trust the Jews, she would go on about the Jews like Nukedog, but she said that wasn't why they supported Hitler, they supported Hitler because they wanted him to hit back against the British.

It was after all the British Empire, she felt like the Germans were the underdogs being bombed by the global superpower.

She's suffering from dementia. She's got that same confused look that my poor old mother occasionally has.
Mum was born in Nottingham in 1940 and can remember being bombed by the Luftwaffe. My father was luckier, he was evacuated to Ireland to live with his mother's family in Ulster.
