They went to war because they were attacked, not to Nation Build. The British were supplanted as the Hegemon because of going to war to nation build, America would be wise to learn that lesson and not repeat the same mistake. America sitting on sidelines and playing Flight to Quality, in both world wars, is a huge reason they became the Hegemon so quickly, along with British idiotic nation building attempts. The lesson from both World Wars is to stay out of fighting over nations that aren't important to your hegemony, or you could end up like the British.
So Trump ordered General Soleimani Assassinated, and now people are crying for WWIII....

Roosevelt exploited the opportunity, America was already in the war with Germany, on behalf of the British, before Japan attacked, moreover, the oil embargo against the Japanese in Indo-Malaya was an attack on Japan, preemptive, by America and Britain together. An embargo is an act of war, FDR and Churchill well knew it.

So? The point is, America staying on the sidelines for longer and biding their time before committing to full scale war is the difference between losing an Empire and buying out an Empire. Britain lost their empire thanks to feckless nation building, America would be wise to not repeat that mistake and instead follow the strategy that lead to them becoming Hegemon so quickly in the first place. Not go looking for Belgium's and Poland's to protect so they can blow it all.Smitty-48 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 2:00 pmRoosevelt exploited the opportunity, America was already in the war with Germany, on behalf of the British, before Japan attacked, moreover, the oil embargo against the Japanese in Indo-Malaya was an attack on Japan, preemptive, by America and Britain together. America on the sidelines is a false narrative, America entered the conflict in 1917StCapps wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 2:03 pmSo? America was not on the sidelines in the 1930's, the American Empire included China and the Philippines.
America has been a Hegemon by force of arms, since the Mexican-American War.

Last I checked, 1917 is after 1914. Not a false narrative, Britain went charging in and blew themselves up at the Somme before America ever entered the war, while America waited until Germany was worn down before jumping in. Obviously the American model is superior to the British model, and here you are advising America to go to the British model, for fucking Iraq or some shit. Get real dude.Smitty-48 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 2:06 pmAmerica on the sidelines is a false narrative, American entered the conflict in 1917StCapps wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 2:03 pmSo? Looking for Belgium's or Poland's to fight WWIII for in the name of nation building, is clearly a retarded strategy.

America didn't wait, America was backing the British & French against the German's from the start.StCapps wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 2:08 pmLast I checked, 1917 is after 1914. America was the one propping the British blockade up, the whole time.
Hence why the Germans switched to unrestricted submarine warfare, in desperation.
America in Isolation has never existed, it's a false narrative, certainly after America attacked Spain in 1898

Sit back and sell weapons, to build up the economy while the others bankrupt their economy fighting the war and waste a lot more lives in name of nation building for Belgium or Poland. Then play clean up.Smitty-48 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 2:10 pmAmerica didn't wait, America was backing the British & French against the German's from the start.

I'm not talking isolation, you are putting words in my mouth, probably because you are trying to cover for the ass kicking you are receiving in this discussion.

That gets you involved, that's how America gets into the war.StCapps wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 2:12 pmSit back and sell weapons. Selling arms to the British, the Lusitania attacked for it.
You can't stay out if you are the bank and the arsenal, in both wars this incited Germany to attack America.

I'm pointing out that getting involved by being the bank and the arsenal is what won America it's hegemony, not charging into World Wars to nation build in Belgium and Poland. Not sure why you have to try and strawman that into isolationism, when you damn well know I'm not an isolationist, you fucking troll lulz. America should play the bank and the arsenal, not charge into Vietnam and Iraq in the name of nation building and preventing domino's from falling.Smitty-48 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 2:14 pmThat gets you involved, that's how America gets into the war.StCapps wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 2:12 pmSit back and sell weapons. When they do go to war, for reasons of legit national interest instead of paranoid delusions of ten foot tall ideologies sweeping the world or instead of huffing the humanitarian pixie dust, there is no need for extended ground invasions either.

That's not true though, because America did charge in, just like the BritishStCapps wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 2:15 pmI'm pointing out that getting involved by being the bank and the arsenal is what won America it's hegemony, not charging into World Wars to nation build in Belgium and Poland. America charged in against Mexico, then Spain, then Germany, then Japan.
The difference was, America was more powerful than the British, so America won.
Remember the Maine.
