Makes me wonder about the "research" part of the process that lead to such authorizations. I believe the Hospitalliers order is still around. Maybe a Catholic should join, and make a demand that they "identify as a Crusader" and get to wear chain mail, sword and shield with approapriate paint and symbolism.

Yeah, that would be my first guess. Two minutes of google image search -> "Guess vikings all have beards..must be a religious thing" *approval stamp on application*.
