I agree that there is a double standard, and I think one of the most damaging thing that has happened to our discourse is that people have completely forgotten the actual arguments against Nativism because the Nativists weren't ever allowed to express them.

The whole "end of history," and the left's abandonment of workers in favor of identities has been nothing but an ass-ache and a mistake for everyone in my opinion, but this is still a pluralist democracy, so if you and I can't even agree on what we agree on, and advocate for policy that would be agreeable to both of us, then the screeching and reeeee-ing Warriors for Social Justice are going to keep pushing you out because your brand of populism just isn't very successful.

But collective bargaining works better the more people you bring into the tent. So being pro working class works better when it isn't explicitly pro white. That doesn't much matter though. By attaching reasonable discussions of immigration and its relation to 'labor fluidity' and the like to a white, Nativist ethos, the Trumpists have scuttled the whole damn project.
