Trump being a disruption to DC is fantastic... but what the hell did you guys think disruption was going to look like? Votes get tallied, and everyone on the hill just goes, "well, fudge, looks like government is over now, lets all pack it up."

This is exactly what disruption looks like. Kicking over rocks, peeling back curtains... and if some of the splatter from this shitstorm hits Clinton, Comey himself, everyone and their mothers... more's the better. Let them gun after Trump... if they find nothing, well good on him. They look like idiots, and he can start really making those best deals with his very good brain we been hearing about.

If they find some dirt on him and his intensely creepy sons... good. I am not convinced they all aren't borderline retarded, and probably shouldn't be in charge of anything important, so win win win.

And before you all start bitching about undermining the wishes of the electorate, I am pretty certain none of this would hit Pence in a meaningful way. The people who wanted disruption get what they voted for, the people who want conservatism get it even better with some one who is marginally competent working with a GOP house and senate.

I didn't know what to expect. Were you expecting this type of press coverage? Did you expect this type of Duplicitous behavior from guys like Comey?

I knew there would be resistance, but frankly I didn't think it would go to this level. The inner battles going on right now are really interesting.

I guess we should have known something was up when B.O. permitted the NSA to share their raw data with the other intel agencies, but evidently "the change was in the works long before there was any expectation that someone like Trump might become president," so who knows. Seems awfully suspicious looking back on it, maybe I'm wrong.

I knew there would be resistance, but frankly I didn't think it would go to this level. The inner battles going on right now are really interesting.

We pretty much knew with a moral certainty that this was the sort of press coverage we were going to get. In fact, a lot of people (myself included) really liked the idea of POTUS Trump precisely because there would be an antagonistic press core. The fact that the media outside of YouTubers and Breitbart is more critical of Trump than past executives shows their status quo bias, sure... but that doesn't make what they are saying inherently inaccurate.

As far as Comey goes... I typically try not to argue too much about motivations and character, but I think he deserves the benefit of a possible alternative explanation for his actions.

He was the head of the FBI and found himself working for a completely unknown, unpredictable leader of the free world. Pretty quick out the gate, Trump starts interacting with Comey in unexpected ways... again, probably not because Trump is sinister, but because (as Paul Ryan pointed out on C-Span) he doesn't know what the fuck is going on, or how he is expected to behave. I doubt Comey is much more partisan than directors before him... he just had the dubious honor of being director when it was a bigger liability. Even if he should have reported some of Trump's actions to Sessions... or even stood up to Trump himself, I think Comey at least deserves the credit for wanting, as FBI director, to protect US interests.
