Everyone needs to get on the same page with me on this one. Any story that doesn't have a name to go with it goes in the fake news pile. Every one. Even if some real stuff goes in too. If you see anonymous or leak on it, toss it.apeman wrote:This a.m., an alleged leaked story is out claiming that Trump called Flynn at 3 a.m. to ask if a strong or weak dollar is good for the US.
If true, absolutely terrifying to me.

That's been my policy for over a year now. But if the news is beneficial to Trump and demoralizing to our lefty forum members, I will rub it in their faces even if I don't believe it, personally.

studying for a history exam today.
The Four Noble Truths of Buddhism.
The Four Noble Truths of Buddhism.
Dukkha, "incapable of satisfying,"[web 2] painful.[4][5] Life in this "mundane world,"[web 3] with its craving and clinging to impermanent states and things,[4] is dukkha,[3] unsatisfactory and painful;[web 2][4][5][6][18][web 3]
Samudaya, the origination or arising of dukkha. Dukkha, and repeated life in this world, arises with taṇhā, "thirst," craving for and clinging to these impermanent states and things. This craving and clinging produces karma which leads to renewed becoming, keeping us trapped in rebirth and renewed dissatisfaction;[note 4]
Nirodha, the cessation of dukkha. By stopping this craving and clinging nirvana is attained,[25] no more karma is produced, and rebirth and dissatisfaction will no longer arise again;[note 5]
Magga, the path to the cessation of, or liberation from dukkha. By following the Noble Eightfold Path, restraining oneself, cultivating discipline, and practicing mindfulness and meditation, craving and clinging will be stopped, and rebirth and dissatisfaction are ended.

I'll kick this off with an interesting poll (for whatever polls are worth today):DrYouth wrote:So when do we start seeing more effective critique around here...

So far all of his EOs are more popular than unpopular.
I'm fairly glad to see that he is sticking to a number of his campaign promises and doing something about them right away. He's getting sh$t done.
I had some serious reservations about the travel ban until I read more about the actual contents and tuned out the spin being put on by the media and protesters. I still think it was rolled out very clumsily. A number of special cases should have been accounted for ahead of time to avoid creating problems for babies needing surgery and for Iranian translators and other such scenarios.
I'm fine with most of the EOs with the big exception being the ending of aid to global health groups that provide abortion services.
His Supreme Court pick was a good one. He gets an A for that on both substance and strategy.
Cabinet selections are ok. I'd rather not see so many Wall Street types in there, but at least they have first hand experience with business and economics. C for now, with a wait and see attitude.
He does need to get away from Twitter. Stop responding to every slight against you. Stop promoting or demonizing companies because they support or boycott you. Let your staff handle correcting the record and pointing out these things. He and his staff also need to pay excruciating attention to detail when it comes to making statements. Every word and statistic is going to be dissected by his detractors, and they can't give them easy pickings.
At this point I'd give him a B-. He still has a lot of learning to when it comes to being POTUS, but overall I like the direction things are going.

This seems pretty balanced... I'm going to say Capps assessment is too generous.
I'm not really interested if his actions are popular tho...
I'm interested if they are effective and prudent.... being popular is easier than being effective.
The travel ban may have been spun... but Trump deserves some responsibility for that spin... in fact he spun it that way himself.
