I just don't see how populism is pro-capitalist, much less how it is the
only logical choice for the defense of liberal markets.
Especially populism under Trump, who managed to inject free market skepticism into the GOP. A stunning and impressive accomplishment, but not one that improves the Grand Old Party much, in my estimation.
R U really pro-Capitalist? I'm NOT; I'm pro regulated Free Markets.

You sometimes use unique definitions of words, so I don't know if I am
really pro-Capitalist.
But, I am pro-wealth generation, and think capitalism is the only reliable engine for that. So if that counts as being pro-capitalist, then yes.
HAIL!

Nobody can say they know anything about anything until they actually do it. Only a doctor knows the weaknesses of doctors.
You are not going to like this, but that sounds suspiciously like the progressive argument that
lived experience is the only way to truly know something.
I find that very disturbing.

So what you do generates a lot of wealth? And anybody who generates more wealth than you is smarter and works harder?

Oral illusions are very effective because they bend fact through rhetoric, appealing to people's preconceptions & biases. I'd be surprised if any cult-like dogma didn't sound like that?

That is the great thing about capitalism - I don't need to personally generate all that much wealth for my wealth to increase drastically. Cheaper goods and services, rising property values, increased access to affordable quality of life improvements, all available with less labor on my part.
Of course, there are many, many people who are smarter and harder working than me, and in a capitalist system with liberal markets many, if not most, of them will generate wealth, and I get to reap some of the rewards.

I’ve worked in far too many corporations to believe that we live in a meritocracy.

I didn’t think anybody fell for the “a rising tide lifts all boats” metaphor anymore? Complacency must be a drug that clouds your intellect.

Everyone likes the idea of a meritocracy, but nobody likes to think we live in one, because everyone thinks they deserve more than they have.
Lord knows I do.

I didn't use that metaphor. I pointed out specific ways that my wealth increases in a capitalist society even when I don't personally generate it.
Increased stock values, cheaper goods and services, increased property values, higher quality goods and services. If you disagree with that analysis, then disagree with it. Don't put a metaphor I didn't use in my mouth, and then call me stupid for saying it.

Do you not recognize that metaphor is the core of your argument? Nothing states the concept more succinctly.
