Recreational use is enough to justify use, so long as overconsumption doesn't become a detriment, so who cares if it has a "medical benefit?"
Smoking pot, besides sitting around and laughing, (which most people don't get after a while), can have profound positive effects. For the right kind of nerd, pot can lead to incredible insights. For example, if I spend a lot of sober time analyzing a particular problem or concept, I find that the occasional high will allow me to see things from a whole new perspective. It's like a stepping back and watching everything fall into place. It allows me to see the big picture. I recall seeing and understanding the amazing geometries of linear algebra for the first time, or really knowing the interplay of a particular circuit or just some general physics concept unfold in my mind's eye. Those moments are amazing yet there's this trope that nothing good ever came from pot, or any other drug. It's dumb and it contradicts the experience of millions of people.
Anyway, yes, there are marijuana addicts that don't do shit except smoke pot all day, and never do anything, but drugs, including alcohol, can have great benefits to the user and therefore society, used in the right context.

Recreational use doesn't justify a God damned thing and you know it.

Recreational use doesn't need to be justified. The banning of it being used in even minor amounts is what needs to be justified. I can't think of a single reason recreational drug use is more of a detriment to society than recreational gaming, drinking, driving, or anything else.
Not everything an individual does needs to be dedicated to improving society or themselves. Sometimes, a person can do something because it makes them feel good. The problem is when the former eliminates the latter or vice versa.

Banning even minor amounts of a narcotic is justified. How do you not understand this?
I can't even get testosterone supplementation now. How in the fuck are you going to sit there and act like, if all this other shit is illegal that can save men's lives, you should still be able to get your recreational narcotics??

What would lead you to think that I care if you take testosterone? Knock yourself out.

Well, fact is, potheads are collateral damage in our strike against the libertards for trying to elect Hillary.

How many weed smokers have glaucoma or chronic pain issues? For that matter, if you have chronic pain and use weed as pain relief, you're barring yourself from any employment that requires you driving there, or that requires concentration. Chronic pain also disrupts concentration and memory, but weed obviously not gonna help in that department. If your chronic pain is so severe, you cannot even work a couple hours, you might as be stoned all the time - your memory and ability to concentrate is severely impaired either way.Kath wrote:
The mental gymnastics one has to go through to pretend that pot is more harmful than cigarettes and alcohol are staggering. Has to be very noisy in the brain to make such a ridiculous conclusion.
Just had a friend go from stage 4 colon cancer to cancer free in 18 months. The only thing that made her chemo tolerable and allowed her to keep her weight was pot. Could either alcohol or cigarettes have done that?
Which of the three helps glaucoma patients relieve the pressure on the eyes?
Weed indeed isn't more dangerous than alcohol, but seriously.... wanna enjoy it recreationally, just argue that? Stop using *other peoples* health issues to legitimize *your* entirely recreational use. You undermine both their use and your use, by muddying those two different issues. Imagine if someone here argued or felt they *needed* to argue their beer drinking with how some Papa New Guinean tribe drinks beer for ritualistic purposes. It sounds like bad excuse.... when you don't need no excuse at all.
If you are not Papa New Guineans or in constant pain, their legitimizations are irrelevant to you. Stick to: "I like it. It's nice. It's no more dangerous than alcohol".
Fame is not flattery. Respect is not agreement.

Weed does not fucking help with chronic pain. It just blasts your brain so that you are not even really aware of anything. That's not pain management. You can do the same thing with any narcotic. That doesn't make it a good idea.
