The other chef here is off work recovering from cancer treatment so I have been pulling double shifts for 2 months now. I could refuse if I wanted to and the law is on my side. I won't because they don't have a lot of choice and because I quite like money. I would hate to have no choice though.
This may be a shocking revelation for some - but you always have a choice. The choice of “Fuck this job, it’s not worth the money you’re paying me”.

Don’t need a government to do what you can already do for yourself.

Why should I have to leave my job if my employer is being unreasonable? I like the option to say ''fuck you I've done my 48 hrs, see you next week''
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Seems like it could be Millennial snowflake related, lacking the perspective of course, that back in the day, they just gave you a clunky pager and then when they paged you, you had to find a phone booth and call in.

Why should your employer be saddled with an employee who is unwilling to work according to the demands of the business? What are you, his ex-wife?

You’re not there to collect alimony, you’re there to be paid for performing a job. You’re not available at the hours the job demands? Farewell, may your next employer provide you a more agreeable schedule.

Dud DB - isn't it obvious - the employer's sole purpose is to provide the proles with jobs....sheshhh....

You see unreasonableness where none exists, though. The unreasonableness is the government presuming that every job on the planet fits neatly into a a 100% predictable bucket of hours.

No - it's unreasonable that the employer takes more than his fair share of the profits created by the workers....duh Kath

Glad the WH isn't in New York. "Sorry, that missile threat will have to wait until 8:00 a.m. when the president is within his working hours."

Fuck that, I'm not in the Army.
If there are too many hours for one employee my tight arsed boss can employ enough people to do the job. 70 hours a week is not reasonable, the employment contract states 37.5.
Seems like workers rights have a low priority in Liberty land.
