No the ludicrous thing about Peterson is that he want to emphasize the important of narrative and myth in the human psyche but won't say that the "myth" that drove his cherished Western Civilization wasn't some isolated concept like "Logos" separated and secularized into what he wants but Christendom as a whole. What lies at the bottom of his worldview is Christianity and without the faith you have an idea without soul. Good luck holding on to civilization with that.

This is what made Western Civilization. We go back in hindsight to label classical pagan civilizations as Western, but really none of them considered the others as part of their civilization. At best you can argue Roman's looked towards the Greeks as intellectual inspiration, but they considered Roman civilization its own thing.

A more accurate name for Western Civilization used to be simply Christendom. It's a closely related genetic group of people with a common religious and philosophical foundation. If you lose that foundation, and you dilute the actual ethnicity that created this civilization, then that civilization dies.

I know if you criticize someone then you hate them. And I also know JP is perfect. He isn't standing up for Christendom. He's standing up for "free speech", rule of law, and personality tests. Which are all good fairly valid things but that's not Christendom much less the essence of it.
