LOL, no. We are about to lose a lot of our freedom to free expression in coming years. Giving all the power to the corporations is worse, since really, it's like giving all the power to the IC.

This was a power play between civilian regulatory bodies and the intelligence community, and you rubes took the side of the IC.

Most network corporations have entire divisions that work the with the IC now. There is no obvious distinction between corporation and intelligence community these days, other than who actually prints the paychecks, but that's as superficial as it gets.

Here's the low-down. Most communities were finagled into giving cable companies monopolies, to the point of denying new competing technologies from entering the market. The cable giants would like to exercise their monopoly power by jacking the price structure so that rich companies can buy most of the bandwidth, hell, where they gonna go, there's no competitors.

Solution: break those monopolistic deals; let Wifi towers come in, and get some competition going. Better yet, simply recognize that "connectedness" has become an important societal goal, and quit letting yourself be lobbied into confusion.

It's difficult to overcome the mutual benefit of corporate freeloading and the IC wanting access to everything we do. You have a lot of people who benefit from our loss of liberties.

The deeper issue, or I guess the long game, is about whether a civilian regulatory body can stop those network companies from providing the IC realtime access to all our transmitted IP packets without a warrant. That was coming, no doubt, and the IC made an effective play by joining up with the profiteering motive of network companies to shake down other corporations for more money.

Libertarians, morons as they ever were, have no trouble burning our liberties on a giant bonfire for the sake of their autistic ideology.

I wonder why people are in such a tizzy over this in the first place. Nothing is changing. The law was not to be inacted till the next president was in office, Obama and his shrills made sure of that.
