Our latest and largest ever Royal Navy ship took to the open waters for sea trials yesterday.

No more of that bullshit that the Royal Navy being their just to hunt for Soviet subs and doesn't need big aircraft carriers.

If you have had those kind of carriers (or similar in size) in the 1980's, no Falklands war.

I suspect they have them too. Their flight deck simply is not long enough for their aircraft to launch.

It has a lot to do with the characteristics of the aircraft you want to operate from that ship.

Just a random question Mont, but whatever happened to your Boaty McBoatface?

The Antarctic survey ship was named the Sir David Attenborough but a remote sub on it was given the name Boaty Mc Boatface.

So they refused to give it the name the public wanted it to be named?

Yes they did go against the public vote. However I think this was a good thing, funny as it was for a bunch of kids to call for it to be named BoatyMcBoatface no one deserves the honour more than Sir David Attenborough. He is a national treasure and at 90 years old he is still working on some of the best wildlife programs ever made. I think in years to come when many of the animals he filmed are long extinct his programs will be an everlasting record of what we have lost.
