Re: Super Bowl Ads : Fascistic Art
Can I write an article objectifying a new spokeswoman for some brand? Maybe use the word YOWZA?
No. That would be sexist, misogynistic, and objectifying.
The propaganda about the Audi ad is still going on, but I enjoy that they got destroyed on Twitter

If she managed to sneak in any political commentary that was too onscute for most people to notice then she did her job as an artist. I'm just glad it wasn't blatant propaganda. I'm still not watching it though.PartyOf5 wrote:Apparently the WAPO thinks Gaga's performance did make a political statement or two.

I'm not sure what to make of WAPOs claim. If she was trying to get in some subtle statements, they were lost on me at the time. She sang 2 songs that I have always thought of a patriotic, and she did it in front of a US flag (made of drones). Maybe it was a slightly hidden statement, and if it was I don't care. To me that was a nice way to open the show and (to me at least) was a statement that we are all in this country together.
Now I just found this, also from the WAPO:

Apparently the statement (if there was one) was so veiled, even WAPO didn't initially notice it.Ultimately, the performance was a mix of feel-good throwback songs with a dose of patriotism. Starting on the roof with red, white and blue lights in the background, Lady Gaga sang a brief medley of “God Bless America” and “This Land is Your Land.” She ended with the final line of the pledge of allegiance: “One nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all” … before jumping off the ledge, suspended by wires, and flying gracefully to the stage on the field.
I'm happy to take it as a show of patriotism and "let's be one" rather than dig for obscure skeletons looking for another reason to take sides. The only sides in the Super Bowl should be (football) team you are rooting for.
Oh and wapo was the ones running headlines about how she should make a political statement, so this is probably just wish fulfillment.
I hate modern day "journalism."

Seems this conversation has been had before. Clearly our corporate overlords who have spent the last 3 decades legislating competition out of existence still believe they can persuade people.
If the attack ads against Trump didn't work, I doubt these will.

That was the most patriotic superbowl I've ever seen.PartyOf5 wrote:Apparently the WAPO thinks Gaga's performance did make a political statement or two.
