Obviously, it was all of a piece. I just see the Glass-Stegall repeal as sort of the cherry on the "fuck it, we own the world" pie.

More like, "we have created a black box, which even we are not sure what is inside of, if this all goes wrong, we need to have the liability spread around, to include the public, so that we are sure to be bailed out, if/when the black box blows up in all our faces"

And you know what? Except for Leeman and Bear, mission accomplished, and who even likes Leeman and Bear? Nobody, fuck those guys. lol.

Fookin' worked great, mate, these guys on Wall St, they know what they're doing, they saw Bill Clinton coming a mile away.

Worked out well for Clinton too in the end, because he skated out of town, before it all came a cropper, and look, he's still got Demohacks like penner singing his praises and blaming Bush for everything; mission accomplished for Clinton as well.

Can't accuse Clinton of being a classical Keynesian, that's fo sho, I mean, a big chunk of Clinton's deficit slaying was on the backs of the poorest; Welfare Reform Bill et al, Clinton was only Keynesian for the rich, and only became Hayekian about shit, when it came to the poor.

Rob from the poor, give to the rich, and keep the middle class in line, by inflating asset bubbles, that's its own thing now; Clintonian.

2000 and 2008 were bipartisan fuck-ups. It's impossible to blame them on D or R, and especially foolish to try and tie them to any tax policies.

The dotcom bust was an entirely normal bubble in a new technology - the internet. We've seen several similar little busts in 3D printing, GoPro cams, and mobile gaming just these past few years. It wasn't possible to reach such epic nonsense without the repeal of Glass-Steagall, but it was nothing compared to 2008.

The 2008 crisis was an epic clusterfuck, chalked up mainly to Glass-Steagal, and a host of other megacorp suck-offs by the Bush administration, helping to distract from our new Permanent War policy. And at the end of it, Obama basically handed the corporatocracy the keys to the country.

Now we've sat on 0% interest rates for a decade and gone nowhere. Trillions of dollars are sitting in bank vaults like a time bomb, awaiting usefulness. Now we have a R president with little or no concept of global Econ, and a D Fed Chair, sitting on the trigger. You don't even have to think about what happens next.

Buy assets. Take on debt. Grow some food.
SJWs are a natural consequence of corporatism.

WaPo: Trump to CEOs: Stay here, and I’ll wipe out 75 percent of regulations, fast-track factories

THE GOOD:

“We're going to be cutting regulation massively,” Trump told a large group of business chief executives over breakfast, which was briefly open to the news media. “Now, we're going to have regulation, and it'll be just as strong and just as good and just as protective of the people as the regulation we have right now. The problem with the regulation that we have right now is that you can't do anything. ... I have people that tell me that they have more people working on regulations than they have doing product.”

THE BAD:
His message to them and other CEOs on Monday: Keep your production within the United States, and you will be rewarded. For those looking to grow or start new factories, Trump promised to expedite their requests and provide incentives to build.

Those who do not heed this advice, Trump said, could face new tariffs that he described as “substantial” and “major.” This threat is one that many Republicans disagree with, worried that it could increase prices for consumers and unfairly punish some companies. International trade experts said Trump may not have the authority to punish individual companies, while broad-based tariffs would violate existing treaties. Trump defended this proposed tax on Monday as “fair.”
