Consider who these "doctors" work for. Who signs their checks? Where is Alfie in this equation?

Translation: you cannot determine your own medical care. The government decides, and you obey, or go to the rape cage.Montegriffo wrote:The relevant points IMO...BjornP wrote:For those interested, a BBC background info article titled: "When are parents denied the final say?"
http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-43893709In the UK, the law doesn't consider either doctors or parents to be automatically right. That's why, when an agreement can't be reached, it comes down to the courts to make the final decision based on the evidence available.A parent who wants to pursue a treatment that is ineffective and potentially prolongs suffering is treated similarly in law to a parent who refuses life-saving treatment that is very likely to work.

Well, if I'm trolling I'm in the good company of British Intellectuals.Montegriffo wrote:Seriously Carlus, you are just trolling at this point.C-Mag wrote:Here's the next Logical steps
The Government determines having Special Needs kids is bad for Society. Pre Birth testing is mandatory, babies that will cost the government too much will be terminated regardless of what the parents want.
The Government will determine Mother and Fathers that will likely have kids that don't meet standards and force Sterilization.
Elderly that are costing government too much, cancer, etc. will be denied treatment, given drugs for pain until they die. Unless you are considered valuable to the state, such Royals, Lords or similar Elites.
This case is not about what is bad for society or cost to the tax payer it's about the childs best interest.
No doctor will be able to prove to a court that a special needs baby has no quality of life and no chance of any future quality of life.
This has been successfully argued in countless court hearings and appeal courts in this case.
Shouting literally Hitler, forced sterilisation and death camps is the only logical outcome is frankly beneath you.
You guys are down the road to Eugenics. All the Progs were for Eurgenics in the 20's and 30's, then after WWII when Hitler showed em how to industrialize it they all pointed the finger at Lil Adolph. But he got his ideas from them.

If you dethatched yourself from the actual situation, it is interesting that this issue is turning out to be everyone against Britain.
Certainly the opposition is not homogenous, but ultimately, I don't know anyone not British who supports this. Both on the mhf and in general.

Britain is riding out the last bits of goodwill from WW2. Their reputation will not be the same, after this period.

No, you cannot determine someone elses care whether you are a doctor or a parent of that person.GrumpyCatFace wrote:Translation: you cannot determine your own medical care. This child cannot speak for itself and needs to be impartially represented.
Think of a JW's baby's parents trying to refuse a blood transplant despite the knowledge that it is very likely to work and save the babies life. No parent has absolute authority over the treatment of their child because that is not always in the childs best interest (CBI in future as I'm tired of having to keep writing it out).
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Perhaps, but the more relevant point is that they won't even let the parents take their own child to another country to get treatment. What do they even care?

I would support their legal right to do so, despite not liking their choice.Montegriffo wrote:No, you cannot determine someone elses care whether you are a doctor or a parent of that person.GrumpyCatFace wrote:Translation: you cannot determine your own medical care. You’re also against freedom of religion now? Right to refuse medical care? Parental rights whatsoever?
What happens if I don’t want a medical procedure that’s “in my best interest”? Do I get strapped to a gurney, and forced?
You seem to be throwing a lot out the window, in favor of the state.
