How depressing is the erosion of the principle that when the president of the United States speaks, it means something, that it’s not just stream-of-consciousness that willy-nilly gets revised or reversed or treated like he never really said it. Just as depressing, though, is the media’s abandonment of straightforward fact reporting, in favor of unabashed alliance with Trump’s political opposition.

According to the National Review, whose free articles I still like to read, the hot take is:
It sure is a shame we have a dangerous retard that nobody can take seriously for a president, but what is MORE of a shame is that the MEDIA calls him a dangerous retard.
implying the media only participates in straightforward fact reporting
i didnt vote trump but to this day i'll take my chances with him instead of someone the corporate press
doesn't call a dangerous retard

Whatever your opinion currently is of Donald Trump, you should remember he spent every ounce of political capitol he had fighting of a literal coup attempt.
What would a Trump presidency have been like without the IC coup attempt that the media assisted in?

+1
Detractors always like to look at just Trump's approval numbers and brag about how low they are but in comparison to so many of his foes he's ahead. He doesn't exist in a vacuum. The media's numbers are low low low even among Democrats, Nancy Pelosi's numbers are lower, Chuck Shumer same, Democrat congress lower than that.

My point was about conservative outlets trying to have it both ways: acknowledging, "yes, yes... he says shockingly stupid things with fair regularity" but immediately moving into distracting from those stupid things by making it a story about how terrible the corporate media is for reporting on all the shockingly stupid things Trump says.
HAIL!
Her needs America so they won't just take his shit away like in some pussy non gun totting countries can happen.

corporate media shouldn't take him out of context at every possible moment in the first place, then conservative outlets wouldn't have a fair point by criticizing corporate media
trump shouldn't be so flippant with his language in the first place, but then again he may not have won the presidency if he was less flippant
i honestly wonder if trump has said more stupid things than the stupid things misattributed to him by the press

Trump frequently fails to provide any context, or recontextualizes on the fly.
Take this latest bit Trumpian doggerel: NR claims the context was a hypothetical question to doctors (which, even if true, is a stunningly stupid hypothetical question), but the administration was telling Fox that Trump was being sarcastic.
How is the corporate media supposed to report on Trump in context when Trump relies on his supporters to provide whatever context is needed?
HAIL!

Literally a coup. Against literally Hitler. By literal Marxists. Wearing literal tin foil hats.
Fame is not flattery. Respect is not agreement.

i agree, trump saying that he was being sarcastic was in my opinion worse than simply riffing about ideas on stage
the problem is that this incident doesn't exist in the vacuum. "what is the media supposed to do?" they're supposed to report accurately and call him out. what they're
not supposed to do is suggest he is responsible for people eating fish tank cleaner or suggest he called nazis very fine people
fuck them
