Hash is the most beta of the beta males. It took me awhile to figure it out, but Capps helped me see it.

It's not as if Hash policy about posting, hasn't always been: If it amuses me, I got no problem. So, sure maybe Hash rolls over and exposes his throat to Smitty... or maybe he just always had a somewhat arbitrary approach to forum justice.

And then there's that whole: Sometimes people just get along with some people better than they do with others. You know this, Kath. Smitty knows this. Everyone does. Monte gets along better with you than StA, but does that mean he's a beta to your alpha(or vice versa)?

If Martin doesn't want you to moderate Smitty, while you were expected to moderate Capps... I get why that be frustrating. So quit. But that people here have favorites can't and should not be a surprise. As I kept saying in the not-hockey thread.. Martin's forum, his rules... even if they are inconsistent.

Hierarchy, and property. If the proprietor has an issue with me, he can come to me himself, don't send a Sally as your proxy.

If he's on the top of the hierachy and the property owner, he can obviously communicate his wishes to you in any way he likes. Don't act entitled to something you're not, Smitty. I don't see any reason why he'd refuse to tell you his wishes yourself, since it's such a small forum and the rules aren't excatly set in stone to begin with (well, ok, he's a busy man outside the forum... so maybe that), but anyway, on principle if you accept the doctrine of hierachy and property, you also accept the hierachical leader and property owner communicating to you by proxy, if that is his wish.

I don't think Marty actually sicced Sally on me, I seriously doubt Marty was paying any mind to me and Capps talkin' hockey, Sally whipped this war up on her own, Marty only looked in on what was going on after methinks.

Sally is acting like Marty stabbed her in the back, but Marty asked her to moderate, not pick fights over insignificant shit and then go postal when plankowners tolt her. Sally caused the problem, Sally overplayed her hand, Sally got schooled, why is it Marty's problem to bail her out? Sally could have backed the fuck off and just dropped it.

Should have and could have just left well enough alone, Marty shouldn't have to come in and clean up her mess when she goes mental over something like two guys talking hockey in an Olympic thread.

Did Kath overreact to Smitty and Capps antics... I have no doubt she did.

Did Smitty and Capps escalate... yep...

Did Kath double down... sure she did.

Did Smitty and Capps escalate further and then spill over to threads that had little to nothing to do with the conflict...

Oh ya.

So I didn't take sides in the Hockey Wars until the very end when my own threads came under fire... at which point I joined with the enthusiasm one must bring to any war once one chooses to take part.

I have no regrets about it. But I also do not assign any specific blame to the origins of the conflict. Only to how it was handled.

I think Hash had the prerogative to handle it how he did... and if any of us don't like it we are free to voice our concerns.

In the meantime I'll ask Kath to get off the sauce if she can't drink without tampering with our posts.... Jeez.
