I really do believe the left is starting to drag our civilization into a new dark age. You can see evidence of it all the time.

Math is the alphabet, the spelling, syntax, and sentence structure of science.GrumpyCatFace wrote:Well think about it. How would you use that information unless you went to college? The high school degree labor market has no use for algebraic formulas. Besides, you have to retake it in college anyway.
Teach the basics, like X = Y/2 and slopes, and spend more time on science.

I keep hearing how brilliant and well educated my generation is, but apparently we need to get rid of algebra because it's too hard.
Something fishy here

Agree that this particular case is bullshit, and there is nothing rassiss about math. It just brought up a thought that I've had since high school.Zlaxer wrote:Read the article - dean is scared he's going to loose funding for piss poor graduation rate....so his answer is to change the requirements by decrying math is racist....what a scam....

If you're using anything other than simple geometry to build something, then you've already fucked up (or you're an engineer).Speaker to Animals wrote:GrumpyCatFace wrote:Well think about it. I had to do a double-take on that article... here I was thinking this was like a college acceptance thing, and seriously I thought algebra was a requirement for fucking HS graduation - like it was back in my day. But they're talking *college* graduation without algebra?!?
All I can say is holy fuck, education in this country is screwed if we've fallen this far.
"Dis maff stuff, it being way to hard yo." - Sorry, I'm not sure you should be even visiting a college campus, much less attending one.
