Re: Earth matters
The only reason I bought it was to maintain proficiency as a tactical rifleman.
But in the end, I didn't bother, I barely ever went to the range with the AR, so it just sits in the lockup doing nothing.
In any scenario for "defense in occupation of property and to protect life" I would bring the 870, so the AR is not even my home defense option. I'm not gonna be launching five five six in a residential setting.
I'm just more into shotguns and revolvers now, I'm bored with the AR tbh.
AR and auto sidearm don't actually have much boom factor, 12 gauge and .357 magnum is more fun.
I'm all about topping up on the fly, changing shells, breach loading, and wheel guns. Harder to master, but that's the fun of it.
AR is point and click, pup-pup-pup, there's no challenge to it, so I've lost interest. I carried one for decades, there's no mystery anymore. Slide action shotgun is much more versatile, but much harder to employ, that's where my interest migrated to.
Same thing with auto sidearm, clack-clack-clack, meh.
Whereas the .357 wheelgun goes BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! Plus the speed loading is trickier, so more fun.
AR; too easy. Nine milly; too easy. Too easy; Zzzzzz.
I've used everything from 40mm grenade machine guns to TOW missiles, but the two things we didn't use much in the army was shotguns and wheelguns, so that's where my growth as a tactical shooter is going now.
If I can get the money back from the Gov for the AR, I'd rather reinvest that in other guns now.
I basically just went for what was most familiar, but then I realized after; that was dumb, I should have gone for something new.
Dominion Arms Grizzly subcompact shotgun?
S&W 629 .44 magnum revolver?

Just learned Greta has Asperger's. I wonder how of much of an affect is has had on her obsession with climate change. Also makes me wonder how much she is being directed towards this mission of hers and being used by activists as a weapon.

So, how about them Leafs?
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

We are older, and should have enough experience to understand there is always a boogeyman to be worried about, and we all get to select our own. AGW, Civil War Doomsday, Nuclear War. I grew up during the height of the Cold War in the shadow of missile silos. We accepted there was little to nothing we could do if the balloon went up. Maybe we survive, maybe we die in a bright flash. But we certainly weren't depressed little hang ringing whiners.Montegriffo wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2019 10:14 am
I don't particularly support her methods or opinions but her sense of panic is genuine for people of her age. You and I are too old to really see the worst effects of climate change in our lifetimes but her generation will and they blame us for ignoring 30 years of scientific evidence in order to keep our high living standards and eternal growth.
We are the planet-killing Nazis and they are the victims of our environmental holocaust.
Can you imagine growing up in a world with no elephants or rhinos left and catastrophic climate change causing droughts, storms, floods and mass climate refugees? That is their future and it is us that are responsible.
That's why they are scared and angry.
30 years of evidence ? Do you need me to post 30 years of bad predictions by Environmental panic monkeys ?
I had to grow up in a world without Wooly Mammoths or Dodo's, and I wasn't scared or angry.
We've seen a lot of families and kids in our day. I don't know about you, but when I see kids that are scared and angry, I start looking at the adults in their lives.

It's that ''nothing we could do'' nihilism we brought from the cold war which is so dangerous now when you apply it to climate change.C-Mag wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2019 10:30 amWe are older, and should have enough experience to understand there is always a boogeyman to be worried about, and we all get to select our own. The threat of nuclear war was real just as climate change is now but this time we can make a difference.
I was angry at the adults bringing us close to nuclear destruction when I was a kid and I can see why today's kids are angry with us.
You never had Wooly Mammoths or Dodo's, they were ancient history, we have let rhinos, blue whales and even the common house sparrow come close to extinction in our lifetimes.

Now that all the fake science was debunked, I am saying fuck no to more global control of our lives for a made-up problem.

We understood the threat of Nuclear War was real. We are not convinced climate change is going to destroy the planet anymore than the climate changing over the previous millenias and eras destroyed the earth. We are not convinced AGW is substantially real.Montegriffo wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2019 10:44 am

We are not convinced because by now because we listened to the predictions of doom, and didn't get the doom over the last 40 years.
Humans used to have Wooly Mammoths and Dodo's. We lost them. The world continued to turn. I'd love to be able to see both, as well as hundreds of other species that are extinct, I can't. I just have to embrace the suck.
