I sometimes wonder why the current political parties are the way they are. Here's a hypotheses to perhaps understand their non-reasoned views, maybe it's just a history of reactions. Their objectives are to benefit (without paying attention to having principles) <insert target person(s)>. A sort of short term thinking, where having principles is long term thinking.

And those reactions build up over time, but do they really pay attention to their past reactions or is it just a continuous "whatever we suppose helps these people in the moment."

If safety is the Number One responsibility of Government, we certainly know how to move towards more safety... but I am not sure the move would be tolerable.

Speaking specifically of schools, if you talk with them they tell you their first responsibility is the safety of schools. It's no different if you put kids on a school bus. If they let an abusive kid on the bus to rough up the other students parents would demand the school explain how they let this happen. But when it comes to shootings they want to ignore the schools responsibility and failures in keeping kids secure.

Then the damn teachers exploit, coerce and encourage kids to walk out and speak out against Constitutional Rights.

No, the the Fucking Government schools need to get their shit together and explain how they continue to allow this to happen on their watch.

"The first duty of government is to protect its citizens" is a product of the Thirty Years War, Treaty of Munster and associated Westphalian nation statehood, but it was never intended to mean "safety" from every plausible contingency, that's a relatively recent rubric, in the context of the nation state writ large, it referred to national security not policing.

Hence, it's not the job of the federal government to protect schoolchildren from other schoolchildren, once again, that's federal overreach via populist hysteria.

We need to shut them down. All of them. No more government schools.

I take it straight from the horses mouth. Schools say that is their number one job, safety of the kids under their charge.

Furthermore, the government limits the ability of teachers and parents from taking on that role through their policies and gun free zones.
My wife is a teacher, she is very limited in what she can legally do to protect her kids.

"Safety" by definition simply means "unlikely to cause danger, risk or injury", invoking it as being a mandate to ensure totally is another fallacy.

If you're cut down by an axe murderer on a rampage, that's not actually a safety issue per se.

We cannot have an intelligent discussion about school shooting and leave the government actions to date and responsibilities out of the conversation. Having a gun free zone mean you put up a sign and expect that to work is silly. Knowing you have Cruz types identified and not doing anything about it is an abrogation of responsibility. Government failed at Parkland at every level, local school, local LEOs, Federal LEOs.

I don't see you as having an intelligent discussion, seems more like you are simply peddling a partisan political narrative in talking point format. /shrugs
