Maybe StA has a point...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sectarianism_in_GlasgowDeaths and serious assaults have been directly linked to sectarian tensions within the city.[3][4][5] Many of these have occurred either before or after Old Firm football matches. The murder in 1996 of Mark Scott, a Celtic fan, by Jason Campbell resulted in the formation of the anti-sectarianism charity Nil By Mouth.
In June 2003, after the publication of the Scottish Executive's Action Plan on Tackling Sectarianism in Scotland,[6] Section 74 of the Criminal Justice (Scotland) Act 2003 was implemented. This set out the situations when a criminal offence was aggravated by religious prejudice.[7]
In 2004 and 2005, sectarian incidents reported to police in Scotland increased by 50% to 440 over 18 months. Scottish Government statistics showed that 64% of the 726 cases in the period were motivated by hatred against Catholics, and by hatred against Protestants in most of the remaining cases (31%).[8][9]
In the five years before 2011, annually there were between 600 and 700 charges of an offence aggravated by religious prejudice in Scotland.

5 years is the maximum penalty, you're not getting that unless there was violence incited.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

So, the next 5 years of my life (and probably the rest of it) are to be determined by someone else’s urge to punch me in the face.Montegriffo wrote:5 years is the maximum penalty, you're not getting that unless there was violence incited.

Sounds "socially just" to me.GrumpyCatFace wrote:So, the next 5 years of my life (and probably the rest of it) are to be determined by someone else’s urge to punch me in the face.Montegriffo wrote:5 years is the maximum penalty, you're not getting that unless there was violence incited.
Just shut your mouth, don't ever talk to anyone, even your friends - because someone might overhear and be offended. In fact the most socially just solution is we just cut out everyone's vocal chords, that way nobody will ever again be offended by what anyone else says. Problem solved!!

It does seem like you arrest the wrong people, dude.
Besides, don't you have jihadists to unite against now? Who the fuck still fights over Protestant-Catholic divides? We all hang out together here, call each other heretics, and have a laugh about it. We end up debating each other all the time and it increases our understanding of things.
One of the big rescue organizations helping persecuted Catholic and Orthodox Christians is Protestant. But the British cannot get their shit together?

Uh.. no. Not really. The last religious civil war ended in 1651 when the heretics murdered their king.
There was a nationalist conflict over Ireland (still is, really, until the English get the fuck out of Ireland). It's not really religious.

In the 80s, those "greens" were atheist communists, but whatever floats your boat.
Also, even before that, the divide really wasn't necessarily Protestant versus Catholic either. There were Protestants who wanted England the fuck out too.
